yes yes its tru im totally fucking suckered into mud again, but this time its the creative side of it instead of the playing side, guess because i never made my own shit b4, after this i will be able to quit...really...

anyway, my plan is to make a bbs where scripting is worthless, probably going to be a time restriction on it anyway, and everything is totally new...i will probably be influenced largely by mudrevs cuz astaroth knew wtf he was doing and i got mad respect for his shit, but its gonna be totally new everything

tweaked all races and classes stock, added these

byrkin - The byrkin race is a very enigmatic and secretive kind. Little is known about them mainly because they are always cloaked and only twin red points can be seen for their eyes. Darkness is the home of byrkin, and they see perfectly with or without night. Blackness cloaks them and enfolds them, and they move from shadow to shadow with ease.

furon - If your looking for a nice companion or a friendly conversation, avoid furons at all cost. Furons are smoldering, seething, evil bastards that want little more than to destroy. They stand anywhere from 3 to 5 feet but height they more than compensate for their size in viciousness. However, furons do recieve special "fury training" as they increase in experience and increase their power exponentially. If you come upon a furon and don't wish to fight... your fucked. A furon has little trouble rending and devouring with its bare hands and for that reason has little taste for magic, and even smaller capacities for it. If your interested in gung-ho all out kill or be killed tactics, recruit a furon for your next advantue, but make sure you feed it before you go to sleep.

wraith - Wraiths are basically undead and decaying creatures that by some innate magic walk and talk as easily as any human. As they are already half-dead, it takes a lot to hurt these creatures, and the process of dying is usually an enlightening one and wraiths are fairly intelligent. Most wraiths blend perfectly with shadoews and darkness and find no trouble whatsoever commanding magic. Regretably, in the process of dying strength and agility are sacrificed, usually attributed to the loss of a finger or two.

giant - The term silent giant was coined from observence of these enormous beings, simply because giants do not speak. The intellect of a giant is so incredibly low that the speech function is not possible. Also, for some unknown reason a giant is overall a very unhealthy creature. This has been linked to eating excessive human women and lack of regular bowel movements. However, giants do possess a unique ability; due to their extremely strong bodies and long, powerful strides, no matter how much a giant is carrying he will step as quickly and lightly as a whore sneaking out of a hotel room.

djinn - The djinn have no known origin, but date back as far as 3,000 years. Their forms are mostly insubstantial, and they have the genius and wisdom of centuries stored within them. Despite popular mythology of genies and lamps, the djinn race can walk around as easily as you or me. One of the major drawbacks djinns have though is a lack of any ability to fight physically. Their powers do allow them to manipulate weapons with their minds, as well as bond armor to their forms.

gargoyle - Contrary to popular belief, most gargoyles are extrememly intelligent. Their nearly impenetrable skin does give them a huge advantage defensively, although definitely slows them down. Gargoyles have the accumilated wisdom of ages upon ages of "stony" contemplation. One of the least charming races, gargoyles do manage to make up for their hideous appearance with a sharp wit and a quick laugh, though their laughs sound of grating stone and tend to make many people nervous.

barbarian - Barbarians come from human stock, they have two arms, two legs, and your standard human face. That's where the similiarities end. A short barbarian stands 6 foot tall, and the tallest of legend were said to be over 8 foot. While significantly dumber than a human, their intense strength and constitution more than make up for their lack of intelligence. Unfortunately, a barbarians bulky muscles usually get in the way of their movements, slowing them down slightly. While facing a barbarian in hand to hand combat the question that most often arrises is, "What the hell is wrong with me?"

basically putting stats aside (still testing and tweaking)

byrkin - perstealth, illu 100, shadowform

furon - maxdmg (specific furon +maxdmg quests at certain intervals)

giant - +100 encum, smash

djinn - medi, dodge

wraith - illu, dr, seehidden

gargoyle - dr

barbarian - accuracy, maxdmg

my classes are as follows

berzerker - dodge, damage, crits, silk, combat 5, bard 1 (but berzerker specific songs of battle)

fiend - rfir, -rcol, illu, findtraps, disarmtraps, classstealth chainail, any weap, mage 1 (fire theme spells only for fiend)

hunter - classtealth, illu, find/disarm traps, tracking, combat 3, leather, druid 2

stalker - perstealth, bsaccy/min/max, tracking, 1handed, ninja armour, combat 4

magus - similar to mudrevs wizard

zealot - similar to mudrevs templar but chainmail

witchdoctor - totally new spell set based, plus natural medi and manaregen...this is going to be a fun one to make spells for

no descriptions on classes yet...

so thats going to be the basic structure of my game, obviously its going to be geared toward atk play, quests, bossing, and most definately, pvp! this is still very early in the development phase tho, but i am very dedicated to it...i can get pretty intense about a projet....eg ive been working on this for approx 10 hours so far today... so if u want to see something and u have a fresh idea, gimme a shout and i will see what i can work out.

peace

b) people can't reply to threads in the bbs ads & news forum

c) thread moved.

I like that you took the time to develop a description of the classes. This shows you are more about content than just frivilent edits. Plus, I'm a sucker for a encouraged pvp realm. Looking forward to seeing it come about.

update, yes...right now first thing is developing full armor sets from 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 225 for all types/classes...right now done with scale because i was testing out a witchy...all armor will be themed, scalemail is obviously scale themed and all will have descriptions and each set will have unique bonuses, for example, my level 50 is simple scale, 75 is snake scale, 100 (quest) is SerpentScale, 150 is viper mail, 200 is venomail, and 225 is DragonScale (quest)...

now that i am getting deep down and dirty in it its pry gonna take a full 2 months to get everything set up before i open for beta testing, except for of course my elite testers (u know who u r) but i am very open to suggestions now. this is going to be a very big mud with very carefully planned and balanced edits. which is, unfortunately, why it is going to take a while. but then again, would anyone really want me to churn out a mud with a bunch of shitty edits in a week or two? quality > quantity. at any rate, just a little update on what the plans are, hope to get some response from the mud community, see what people want...

I understand the need for feedback and other info, but in my personal experiences the biggest problem I generally have with a board is the op making edits that are asked for by players. Why? Because if the class isn't balanced (if that is indeed your goal), it shouldn't be playable. If it is already balanced, then why make changes?

When I play on a board, I like to play YOUR edits, not what I or anyone else would like to see. If I want to play the class Joe Schmoe wants you to make, then I'll tell Joe to make his own board, and edit it the way he likes. To often (and I'm guilty of this myself), players only want to see changes implemented that will make them more powerful. Period. No one but yourself is likely to care much about the balance of the classes or what armor they get at what level, until that time comes. Then, they're going to bitch, because such and such got such and such and that guy has this and that, and so on and so forth with the broad generalizations.

So, to sum it up. Make your board. If people don't like it, they'll leave. If they do, they'll stay. Just don't go making all the changes everyone wants to see. That's no fun, but again that's just my opinion.

I really don't think you should ignore your player's comments. They are the ones who are playing the board, and they will probably be able to see the balance of everything overall better than you can.

Ya, some people will want something uber made for them, but those will probably be fairly obvious. Most of the mud community I have seen don't want a broken class or item. They want balanced content.

I agree With ari..as player on many past and present edited boards, many of those ppl that play on these boards ,don't see over their noses

and care only for the present condition. Rarely i meet players that think of the long run and balanced items/classes/ect, instead their char at the moment.

with that being said, i also agree with sven..after all the players play this game for pleasure and not ust the sysop..but the sysop/editor of the board shoudl take under considiration that the players have good offers And less good,it's in the sysop/editor hands what to take and what to leave behind.

sorry ari i think you misunderstood...the balancing is going to b done by me and only me, i know there are a few players that have the interest of the entire realm at heart, and they are going to b my beta beta testers. as for what i want feedback on is more general in nature, eg, do people like areas where elemental resists and damage is, do people want to see more new bosses or more new areas, etc etc. im just open to suggestions, if i get a lot of response on something i will most likely implement it, if i dont get a lot, i wont. another example, i plan on using gabriels recall mod, but not the repent. reason being, this is going to b a pvp realm, so i will set the eps to come off quickly, but repenting is too much. anyway, hopefully everyone has a better idea of what im actually looking for in suggestions now, no point in telling me stuff like "you should make a sword that has damage of 50-100 hits additional flame damage for 500-1000 and does 100% stun."...shit like thats not gonna fly...neway, back to edits
