I have a friends computer I am currently trying to reinstall windows XP Pro on. The computer formally had windows XP Pro on it but somehow they deleted a critical file because it will no longer load. The computer is an IBM 300GL, Pentium three. Not sure how fast it is or whatever, but im sure its fast enough to install windows XP. I cannot get into BIOS to change to boot order to get the CD ROM To load first, since I cannot get into windows to reformat/reinstall. I have installed windows XP MANY times, and never had this problem. When i goto reinstall I usually just load in the CD restart the computer and the CD loads directly up, but I cannot seem to get the computer to load from the CD Rom. Any ideas on how i can make a floppy startup disk for XP? Or any other idea? Thanks.

our friends @ http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994 has windows xp floopy boot disks. They span 4 to 6 floppy disks and i've had used them once a while back.
I thought on the 300gl's it was F1 to enter bios. But you can try a cupla other things..
hold the F1 key before turning the machine on. Keep the F1 key pressed while it's booting up.
Or try holding down a key (any key) constantly while it is booting. It will usually give a stuck key error and ask if you want to enter setup.

300gl's are usually about a 600 to 800 mhz, they also have a Quantum Bigfoot HD, and the HD's are famous for corrupting. Also your going to have to have the xp boot floppies, I'm having the same problem with my 300GL, it wont boot from the ROM.
