Post your friggen add-ons!

It's good to see new bbs's going up left and right, but I am beginning to tire of the ones that deem themselves 'edited' by throwing in a couple downloaded mods and multiplying boss exp.
You will begin attracting a larger user base if you spend some actual time on the realm before you put it up publicly.
But kudo's to the new realm... Who was it for new sysops that once said... Play. Fiddle. Learn?

amen to that... on all levels. it almost makes me wish i hadn't written those mods in the first place. i'm happy that people use them and seem to appreciate them... and i don't give a shit whether or not people recognize me personally for writing them, but it'd be nice to see a sign of appreciation in people posting their own mods. granted, i doubt syn is much into maintaining the site at this point (dunno, i haven't talked to him in months) but i'm sure he has time to approve a few uploads, and it's pretty discouraging what i'm seeing.
please, people, post your add-ons! if you're using them, you clearly appreciate nmr and the idea of add-ons enough to devote a couple minutes to it. even if they're quests or areas that people won't be able to use without heavy modifications, worst case it'll need a warning label. i see 400-600 downloads per add-on. not very encouraging numbers, folks... even if each of you downloaded it 5 times, that's still 100+ people using add-ons and not one uploaded by someone other than syn/myself.

If i had the software to start writing mods id do so cause i got nothing but time. Mostly i think id start adding in items more than areas. Id also make a few new monsters like i did back when i ran a board but yeah people should be putting their mods and shit up for us all to look at.

Gabs~
Perhaps it would be beneficial for you to post some information on how a user can export a certain modification or area they have done that they deem beneficial to other players.
Not sure what section you would throw it in, but I would be glad to see it as well.
Thanks...

Well I'll be damned, when I seen your first post in this thread talking about why you made recall's self only, i said to myself 'whoa theres the guy who made the recall mod!'.. I give you mad props, I had a board up for a little bit and that was one of the mods I had installed on there.. excellent mod.. on boards that it is installed on, it does me in real well when im out on the galleon or after boss runs "brooch out"
Hell, appreciation is knowing there is users on a lot of bbs's saving up 5 runic for that brooch of saftey so they dont have to keep buying potions of recall :)
but for real, awesome mod - thanks for contributing it

The above posts were split from the following thread: http://www.forumshq.com/showthread.php?t=8661
And for the record, not one person has ever submitted an add-on except for demosthenes and i with the exception of ray (of all people). His contribution was replaced by the spell mod that we did. Just the other day i tested the upload system thinking maybe it broke and people failed to tell me (as usual). but no, it works fine. people are just ignorant. this is the main reason why i have no motivation to work on NMR or MME. i didn't play mud for a year while i was developing NMR because it was fun to do. anymore i feel like it's just a waste of time.
NMR/MME vs WoW/Halo2 ... not a tough decision.

It would be helpful if yourself, Ray, or Demosthenes could post and make players aware of how they can export their mods and make them available in a useable format for other people.

From http://www.forumshq.com/showthread.php?t=8315&highlight=add-on
Tools --> Databases --> Export
Select "Access Database" Type
Select the databases to export
Enter the record number ranges
Click Export and export to a file
If you need to export more than one range, you can do another export and choose the same file to export to. A message will pop up and ask if you wish to add to/update the file or create a new one (choose yes in this case)
Zip the file up
Goto http://nmr.mudinfo.net/index.php?add-ons and fill out the form and then upload the file
Be very descriptive. For example, note any monster exp multi, what level the area/monster/items are intended for, where you intended for the area to connect to, etc. People need to know exactly what they're importing.

I'll post my Rooms of Rummage when I get everything situated on my PC, just formatted the HD the other day. Maybe I'll post more stuff depending on the future of the project I've been working on for almost a year now.

I have a martial-art's mod I can post when I get around to it. Add's fighter belts for ninjas and mystics that progress with levels. Have the same for fighter classes and magic classes, but they still need tweaking.
