Suggestion for the Site MODS [Archive] - ForumsHQ

I really think that the BBS Ad forum and the BBS News forum should be locked once the ad and or news is entered.
Make those two forums informational only with no responses allowed.
That might just keep the flames in the appropriate forum and keep these two forums for what they were set up for originally: ADS and updated NEWS.

That's a very, VERY good idea, and I agree all the way!

Heheheh Wish I had thought up the idea but I belong to a forum site where there are three forums that are informational only.
One is the rules forum. Another for upcoming activities. The third being a question forum where ONLY the moderator replies.
What is done with the activities forum is that the person having the activity submits a form to the moderator of said forum and she places the ad. This could be done for the ADS forum here. There is a form the moderators would like sysops to follow so would be easy to do it this way. ONLY sysops would be able to submit their ad.
As for the NEWS forum, that would be easy to lock also. Can only sumbit news for boards that have already advertised. Once it is posted that news post gets locked.
It would be a little more work for the moderators though that is why I was hoping for some feedback from one of them here.
I asked te moderators of those forums about how much extra time it took them to do it this way and their respone/s was that actually it takes time but it is still easier than having to weave through the threads to dlete and or lock a thread because of bashing etc.
It also cut down on a person advertising their upcoming activity every other day. Reason they would advertise so many times in the past was to make sure their sctivity was on top and or because their was negative responses in their ad and they wanted to start a new one.
Same thing has been done in this forum. Some one places an ad for their board and next thing you know it is plasted with bashing etc and you see a new ad for the same board within days. Or a non-sysop places an ad (without using the form) and the info they give is next to nothing.
To close this up my suggestons was to ask if:
The ADS forum could be form form submitted by ONLY a sysop to a moderator and the moderator places the ad then locks it.
That a SYSOP sumbits her/her news for their board, it gets placed, then locked.
