We should start our own Folding team for ForumsHQ. Help out humanity and gain a little more popularity for ForumsHQ. I myself am part of the [H]ard|Folding team but think it would be fun and helpful to have our own team of folders.

To quote:

What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.

What does Folding@Home do? Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.

In short, if you have a broadband connection or are always connected, while your away it uses your spare CPU cycles to fold protine strands in the aid of medical science. Theres roughly over a billion people across teh world who donate there spare CPU cycles to helping fold these protines to further medical studies hence helping to aid in medical advancement. Theres no reward in it other than the fact that every person who participates helps further advance the studies in the human protine understanding.

I personally urge and suggest that we start our own team to help out in these medical advancements, even if you only run it while your asleep it will still help fight genetic as well as man made diseases.

Click the banner at the top for more info. I guarentee theres no spyware involved in it, i been running it for yeard and can vouvh for it personally. As for SETI it uses the same basic pirnciple.

Does it make you turn into a retard and spell nothing right and make you post something that makes you come off as someone other than yourself? You're way too smart to post a paragraph that bad. :rolleye:

It doesnt eat up bandwidth, it sends the test results out like once a week to the university.
