Recently I took a computer graphics class (i'm majoring in computer science, just to set the scene for you). I made a little game with like 4 other people. I made a couple character models, but one of the more interesting things I did was to make a tree and incoroporate randomness to make multiple trees in a scene look different. It involved a little bit of simplistic fractal math. Keep in mind this was done using C++ and openGL, so it looks nowhere near as smooth as high-end packages like maya and 3d studio, it's all hit-and-miss low end stuff with primitives and such... Anyway, each picture here treeAttempt1 thru treeAttempt15 are screen shots that I took documenting what I went through in the process of coming to the final product (just pictures of the tree, mind you). The first one looks nothing like a tree, and the last one sort of looks like a tree :).

If anyone's interested in the theory or code, just ask! I can post more stuff in the future if people aren't too underwhelmed.

And I've never tried attaching things before, so bear with me...

Moderate 56k warning.

Incredible work! Has just started openGL-programming in Delphi, and my work looks like crap so far. :)

But I'll learn, I'm sure..
