We are officially up and running.
Domain: purgatorybbs.dyndns.org
We welcome everyone who wants to come play, we have one request, lets keep it a nice, friendly environment where everyone can feel comfortable and have fun.
First, we want to thank Syntax because without him and all his hard work, there would be no really good edited games.
Everyone who logged in and helped us stress test and debug, thank you soooo much. We had a few minor problems but are working them out as we find them.
Here we go:
One account at this time, please. (One in edit and one in stock)
Monster exp is X2.
Stock races and classes have not been touched, they are the same as they always have been. (Wanted to in a real bad way, but controlled myself!)
There are 6 new races and 7 new classes. Type ? air elemental (for example) for a description of stats, this works for all, some of the new elementalists you have to type out the complete name to get this to work. (Ok, we forgot to do the giants...getting to them asap).
All new races and classes were painstakenly, hopefully balanced. We didn't want to make any stock characters obsolete and any new ones over powered. If you notice anything that you feel just isn't right let me know.
All new spellcasting classes have their own spells (a few were crossed over from other classes because they fit so well with the new classes). This was alot of work and I hope anyone playing these new classes and races enjoy them.
Every new class has a trainer in the Silvermere Adventurers Guild and spell shops are there also. (The easiest way to find them is head for the training room and then look for the down.) They have spirit trainers and quest weapons and their own creature to fight for the level 10 training quest.
Every new class can do the quests.
Type ? edit and you will get a list of current edits that have been done and what is in the works. I admit, not everything is on the ? edit list, I will work hard to add them all.
Any suggestions? Let me know, the wonderful thing about edited boards is they are always changing and growing.
Also, there are paths in the files area for the new lindworm area. This is not the only new area, just the one with paths to it so far. Anyone discovering the new areas, please if you make a path or loop, upload it to the files area.
One of the new areas off the slums is definately for parties of level 75+ and the room before is clearly marked with a sign. READ THE SIGN you will definately die in the beginning room if you are a low level. When I was testing I took a lvl 80 warrior in alone and got creamed. Avoid this area until you are ready for it. I was going to tweak it down abit, but didn't. :-)
Check out the new shops and items in Newhaven.
Check out Silvermere Castle, it's somewhere in the Slums. I don't want to spill everything, what fun is it if I tell you where everything is? :-) Everyone gets sys map. You should be able to find it.
Remember those cleared fields that never made sense and were just a waste of space? hint...hint
Changes made for better play:
Quest weapons are no longer limited. Everyone will get their quest weapon.
Added new monsters to Newhaven. Watch for one especially, it's kind of a fun one to kill. I am curious to se if you get the "joke". Also, the arena gets kinda crowded so some of them will drop small items to either use or sell.
I made torches cost 5 copper because really, who is going to hand you something free in a shop? (With an exception to all lvl 1 spells and the padded armour, they are still free.)
I took the level restriction off the swamp boots. It was totally ridiculous to restrict them to lvl 30.
Removed the regen on the cave worm. JUST WAIT! :-) There is a new area right around there for level 4-15 only. New monsters, a new boss and new item to enhance stats. Why? better exp for lower levels, more money drops and it's more fun. Come on, the cave worm? There are paths for mega in the file area to get to this new area. After they are added they should show up under Sewers-Dark Caverns.
Added the high level spells that Metro never wanted to add. They were always there just never incorporated.
Left the level restrictions on the quests for now. If everyone decides to change it we can.

There are no playing Sysops, nobody with special "sysop only" keys and abilities. We love to play mud just as much as you do and it really is no fun if you are not on an equal footing with everyone else. Anyone who knows me from other boards knows I tend to die ALOT and I am always retrieving my gear, I can guarantee the same will happen here, ALOT. :-) I can also guarantee, I will not be the #1 player on the top ten list, never was and never will be. You will always find me somewhere around 10 or 12. I never seem to reach #1.
We will need mud-ops eventually, so if you are interested. The mud-ops will have sys map and sys goto just like everyone else, I think the only thing extra at this point will be the ability to give lives and hang players if things get a little out of hand. Nothing else is really needed. I don't know why anyone should be able to see other players stats and inventory, some things are meant to stay private. :-)
We hope everyone enjoys this game. We have put alot of work into it and will continue to do so. ANYTHING that seems to just be wrong, or need refitted, just say so. I am not an expert, just someone who loves this game and doesn't want to see it fade away.
Thank-you,
Amber and Lodin
