My favorite band is Led Zeppelin. I know people say stairway is their best song, but i always thought they had better, thats just me. This is my stairway:
The Rain Song
-------------
It is the springtime of my loving
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing
So little warmth I felt before
It isn't hard to feel me glowing
I watched the fire nn-that grew so low, ooh, ooh, whoa-oh
It is the summer of my smiles
Flee from me, keepers of the gloom
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune
Ain't so hard to recognize, oh
These things are clear to all from time to time
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh-ho, oh-ho
Uh, talk, talk, talk, talk
Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go-whoa
I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us
but I know that I love you so-oh
Oh-whoa, mm-but I know that I love you so-whoa
These are the seasons of emotion
and like the wind, a-they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch we all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient
Uh, upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall
Just a little rain, hoh, now
Aw, woo-ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah

Lately it seems Guns N Roses is considered "classic rock", so I'd have to go with them as my favorite. OR if there's like a 20 year limit to be classic, Motley Crue. OR, if its gotta be 60s/70s shit, the Doors.

I grew up with em too, I don't think I'd ever consider them classic rock, they're too different from what is considered "classic", but times change, and lil kidss like to act like they're the biggest fans... I saw a girl yesterday who must have been like 12 wearing a GNR shirt. Couple weeks ago saw a 16 year old wearing one... told her to take it off and give it to me but she wouldn't. Shame too, she had nice ones. :yeah: I liked classic rock up until a couple years ago, stuff like Boston, Floyd, Zeppelin, Doors, Hendrix, Joplin, Stones, etc... kinda outgrew most of it, tho I still love the Doors, and some Hendrix and Stones.

I still love classic rock...I just listen to many types of music to keep from getting sick of one type. That comment about having nice ones was just wrong ;)

haha holly shit, i can't believe it, Led zeppelin is fuckin awesome. Only reason i can be bothered driving to work is knowing i can listen to them on the way, that and the fact i have to pay the rest of the fuckin car off aswell. Good call xetox, pink floyd are good... there arn't many bands that exist that come close to these guys. I'm tired of all the shit thats out today, don't get me wrong i love a lot of music, especially metal... bands such as Fear Factory, Tool, A perfect circle are amongst my fav's. I also love listening to bowie hehe, it's not just the labyrinth thats great, (like you guys may be thinking im biast to) but all of his music is good.

All the groups mentioned are worth it. For me I would say 60's bands would be Beatles, Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane. The Doors, Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin would tow the 60's and 70's line. It would also be hard to leave out Cream, Dylan and The Yardbirds. Into the 70's I would add The Rolling Stones, The Band, Jeff Beck and Black Sabbath. Going up to the 80's I would not leave out The Clash, Peter Gabriel, Roxy Music, Public Image Limited, The Smiths, Patti Smith Band and Television.

Hey I'm with you guys. My favorites are Zeppelin, Dylan, and Queen. Gotta love that Freddy Mercury. Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, the Who, and others also... I could go on but who wants to read a list?
I guess I kinda fit into the younger generation; I'm 21. I don't even talk too much about the music I like with people my age because they don't really understand, I just end up embarassing myself. They're like "who is bob dylan" and I just shake my head in disappointment. Way too much modern stuff is hairspray and production; too many synthesized beats and base lines, not enough people who know how to play the guitar anymore.
The only "modern" albums (i.e last 6 months or so) i've bought are Eels, Coldplay, Jet, and the Strokes. Evidence of my reminiscing about classic rock. By the way, I _highly_ recommend Jet if you like classic rock.
