MudRev.. [Archive] - ForumsHQ

First off, you all act like I care about your opinions. I don't. I care about my opinions, and what really happened. (This is all about me remember, I really give a god damn what all these computer nerds think about me..) So Ill say a few last things..

I wrote MudRevolution so that people would actually come to the keys and play the game MajorMUD which is becoming a constant shithole. I accomplished that. Sure I might not of made it extremely detailed, but I still made people be at the keys. I then had very little time to work on MudRevolution due to real life ordeals (Which none of you seem to have?) ... So right before I decided to give up on project Revolution, I decided to give it one last effort with some help of a great editor, Astaroth. He took over the project and I allowed him to have almost complete control of the realm, which he took much advantage of. He continued to change things without asking me, which I suppose was fine because I knew he would do what was best for the realm and could create gameplay and balance as well as detailing it at the same time. So as I continued to work in real life, he continued to get paid to work on MudRevolution. I then took a few days off from work to completely re-do the entire realm, and server not to mention investing much money into having a completely dedicated server. I worked for hours on lots of misc. things as well as making sure the Server was ready for use. The re-release went off with out a hitch and everything was going well... Unfortunetly Astaroth grew more into the mindset that the realm was his and continued to change things without my confirmation, which again, was my fault. Users continued to bitch that I was letting the realm lose control and that I should of never decided to work with another person, I agree. Due to the fact that I had absolutely zero time to dedicate to the server other then to make sure it was working, he somehow managed to teach my roommate how to throw in online updates. Which bothered me a little bit in the first place, but after realizing how little time I really had, It had to be done to make sure the realm could be kept up to date.

This is where things went wrong... Since I moved apartments and my billing statement was being changed.. Comcast was to come to my apartment to change some things and pick up the old modem, but as always, I was at work and no one was home. Unfortuntely his prior roomate put a 'cancellation' on the address, and since no one was home, they shut off service completely. I came home to find out that I had no service, and again, no time to go 'out to a library' and be a 'dedicated sysop' to tell everyone that the server was down. The next available time they could come to my apartment was 3-4 days later to turn on the service. These few days are often referred to as the 'flake out' downtime, which was really out of my control. So when service was finally re-established, my roomate logged on to his AIM to go about his business.. Then Astaroth suddenly decided that he wanted to do an update and put the realm up as soon as possible.(Even though it was running completely fine and users were beginning to login.) He then decided that since my roomate is such a Worldgroup Wizard that he would take it into his hands to walk him through an upgrade.. He then decides that he would like to upgrade MudRevolution to version 1.11p and do it by walking my roommate (Who knows absolutely nothing about WG/Mud) through it.. Sounds simple enough for anyone who is technically inclined. Well since I was not around to witness the events, Im not sure exactly what had happened. This is what i do know. I come home and my roomate tells me "The server is broken you need to fix it".. (After working 12 hours.) I check the WG screen to see countless errors and multiple problems. I asked Astaroth what was up and i was pleased to find out he took the liberty to upgrade to a -BETA- version released by Metro (We TRUST METRO NOW?.. and I dont care who the hell hacked the beta.) So of course, stating it was not his fault, he blames it on the "downtime'.. Seeing as how the server was working absolutely fine before this upgrade.. Who knows. As i continued to work out various bugs (How the hell they got there I have no idea).. I finally got the server to launch, but come to find out the entire Worldgroup Userbase had been deleted. Making it literally impossible to save the characters at this point. (Not a Happy camper i was.) So finally coming to the conclusion that I would have to reset entirely I began to do so.. As I worked on things and talked to Astaroth as I did it, more and more problems occured. How these problems got there I am unsure, seeing as how I didnt touch the server, and I have done millions of installations without any problems. So after multiple attempts at re-installing MajorMUD I came to another conclusion, that WG and Mud would have to be completely re-done by scratch. After I put many hours into re-working menus and fine-tuning the WGserver settings to exactly how *I* wanted them, it was wasted. I then wipe the entire WG directory and begin to re-install everything. I re-installed everything, Imported the lovely new beta version, and again recieved more countless errors. After spending hours that I didnt have on a stressful situation that I didnt create, my fuse was growing short. This is what really pissed me off.. Is the fact that I hadnt touched the keys or directly had ANYTHING to do with what had happened.. All my hard work that I had put into a FREE server had been wasted simply because someone was impatient and felt that they should take matters into their own hands. (Again, regretting ever asking for help) So I finally got the server to launch again, to find out that there was even more problems. At this point, I was sick of Astaroths arrogance and his assuming the problems were created on my end. So after spending hours stressing out about something I dont need in my life, I told Astaroth he can have MudRev, as it is in better hands now... and I walked away from my computer being a happy man knowing that I wouldnt have to worry about pleasing countless computer heroes.

A few last things... It's amazing how much people can change when the tables are turned.. Astaroth is suddenly a complete asshole to me, Imagine that.. Drago, perhaps the most humerous mudder of all time.. Wow. All I can recall is me getting on AIM and Drago constantly saying "Miles :) Miles :) Hi Hi :) Where are you :) Hi Miles.." .. and Again, he is a complete asshole full of ignorance and arrogance. Of Course Drago is willing to host it, he loves to be in power, and to feel special.. Everywhere Ive ever seen him play he tries his hardest to snuggle up under the sysop's ass for whatever reason it may be.. I think he is holding a grudge because I never gave him the time of day.. Btw Drago, I was at the keys 80% of the time to AIM'ed me, I just didnt want to listen to you kiss my ass. Now you act like you hate me, Cute front.

I also enjoy how I log onto MudRev and people who never seemed to voice opinions or have a problem with me, suddenly hate me. Thats amusing as well.

As far as me throwing a tantrum, go ahead and call it a tantrum. I dont care.. Call this entire post a tantrum. If any of you ever think I wanted 'acceptance' from the few computer nerds who frequest these forums, I dont really give a flyin fuk.. The only reason I used these forums was to promote my BBS. a BBS that did extremely well for what type of person I am. I don't care about your opinions, and I laugh when you all attempt to 'flame' me.. Sure, go ahead, you can think it's all about me.. Thats why I made this entire post. The only thing I want out of this is people to know the truth why I gave it up. I don't want to run a BBS if it's not the best, and I simply don't have time to be the best. If you think I want to be the best so I can be in the spotlight, your wrong. Anything I do in life I want to be the best at, but if you think being accepted by a bunch of ranting forum nerds is what im after.. Then again, take a look in the mirror or maybe a glance at your oversized tagline or maybe the hours you spend on writing Information sources for a 10 year outdated text-based fantasy roll playing game. I had fun editing the realm, I had fun watching my users be challenged. I accomplished what I came here to do.

This is my last post, and likely the last time I will ever have anything to do with MajorMUD. Regardless of how much you all hated me, I brought something to the table, made people think, and made MajorMUD playable for another day.

Other then that..

F*ck off.

Thats a whole lot of ranting for someone who doesn't give a shit. Let it be known that Miles came onto MudRev tonight and threw a huge fit, basically demanding that everyone say he is The Goode Lorde Jesus for creating MudRev. After a few minutes of ranting Astaroth told him he agreed with him, at which point Miles flew off the handle, apparently unhappy that Astaroth was of the same mindset as he. Miles was acting like an arrogant bitch, something that's not unusual for him, and everyone online who has half a brain told him so. Miles, you may have created MudRev, but at this point no one gives a shit. You're just a prick man.

Miles, for not wanting to please anyone you sure post here alot. I think you do care. It sounds like you bit off way more than you could handle, at least in the time frame you allowed your self.

As for all the flames and fair weather friends, welcome to the real world. Followers very often in life act just the way you describe: Even ones with skills or good great education. It is a flaw in the human modle dude, don't take it personally, 98% are shit bags by nature and can not control themselves.

I doubt you care about those peoples, but some here I do think you care what they think. Those that helped you for no real glory, for no real reward, I think you do care what they think. Some may even have gotten pissy with you, after you started to get pissy with everyone else.

I think a lesson for you is that you are not god, you were stressing, and now what once seemed a fun interest you wanted to follow seems like a frigging nightmare of work, and then betrayal(s). Next project you want to go all out with, be it mud or something else... GIVE YOUR SELF SOME DAMN TIME DUDE!

Everything doesn't need done yesterday. Mudders whine, they think they want all kinds of shit they really don't. They want favors from the ops, but given all they will take they grow bored and disappointed. They wanted you to do everything yesterday, but when the stress started to show in your moods trying to give it, they didn't then want you at all. You can't give more than you got, it doesn't work.

I can hear you are not happy right now. I for one hope you do not leave the MM edit community. I don't think you really even want to, just do not care for all the shit you found that came with it. I hope to see you rise again one day, a bit wizer from this "not good" experience. Stronger. More focused. And Calmer, yes  secure in the knowlege no opinion matters but your own in the end. Where that becomes one's one truth, you have no need or interest in voicing it. You haven't done well defending, you come off in ways unintended I think. But what is there to defend? Best mud or not, you did what you did. Not even mudrev created more than a beginning really. None have, though you tried pushing beyond more than most. As Muds go, these editted games are still only bastardized metro majormud.

So much more could be done than any seem to take the time for. There is still much to do. Success in the end is judged by the self, in how you delt with failures, disappoinments and even betrayals. You had ideas, sadly, most doing editing lack ideas and immagination to ever even take thier game much beyond "easier majormud with lower exp" Don't give up over the bad, use it! Only true wizdom you will ever find in this world is in times of hurt and saddness.

Let the frustration go, take time needed for that, then decide if you like editting. And where you do, next time keep with a pace that you still enjoy what you are doing, and to hell with all other's whines for more.

Where you don't, you will be free, no regrets, but no further interest either.

Either way learn from what went wrong!!! It will again be important no matter what path you take, find the wizdom to be found beyond the anger and hurt you now feel. Mudders never change dude :P give it a few months, those you gave your mud to will tire of what they find goes with the editting too. Sign in then and talk to them and you can laugh with them that they dealing with the same shit you always seemed stuck with. Notice ast. is becoming more and more outspoken all the time? Give things some time and those that shitting on you now will be telling you they wish you never left.

Not because ast. or others are bad at running things, not because you were good, but just because they just are the new target for frustrations... from being pkilled to not getting that "kill every damn thing" in a round, new area spell they begged for.

gawd, ripper, feels like I'm in an AA meeting or something... ;)

Miles - I respected the part where you were describing your frustration and the problems you've faced running mudrev, but you had to go and screw it up by being the same immature dickhead you've been since the start. You make ridiculous assumptions, that we're all computer nerds who have no life or job, that we have no stress.. Dude, it's called life. You deal with it, and get over it. You're looking at Majormud in the completely wrong light. It's MY stress relief, but you're letting it add stress to your life - granted, you asked for it when you decided to run your own board and that being the fact you should be man enough to deal with it and not throw hissy fits like a little girl. This is your last post, ehh? I almost guarantee you'll be back to refute anything we've said in response to this last whining thread you've created. I really hope you grow up soon, Miles, because if you don't life's really gonna take it's toll on ya - and a word of advice, Paxil.

This is why sysops get PAID to run bbses. :)

Also, should tell people to fuck off more. They bitch? Ban em. So what if you only have a userbase of 10 people, at least everyone is happy.

I don't imagine AA, wisdom, or much of anything could help ya hobo :nope:

ya really want to compair Miles' vision to yours, I am game.

Lets talk dragon legends and your own comments about how "life is" and how you have stress to:

>>wow, I feel bad now, my name was mentioned and I haven't done a damn thing..

all the time spent, with all that kai got worked out, good thing he could count on you huh?

See the thing is some get in over their head running muds, do not handle other things well. You, it would seem, don't handle the mud you signed on to at all and get in over your head with suggesting others need to growup. And this dick fetish thing you seem to have going everytime you try to take your dong out to wave in a forum.... You are a closeted homorectual, with lots of emotional (great need to kick someone when they down to feel self important) and social (drinking) problems, huh?

Miles, when stressed just seems to show it by being overly manic and aggressive to control, even if in vain. He will do fine if he doesn't die from worry over a stupid damn mud. Now you, maybe we need an intervention of some sort for... dude, I fear you gonna end up with aids, passed out in a gutter somewhere, yelling life advice to some guy that wakes ya for that 62 cents in your pocket, but then decides just to end ya

Maybe a "Save the homo hobo" forum is needed to keep you trying to get that post number up more and keep you out of the truck stops and adult book stores seeking that elusive "dick" you can't seem to get out of your thoughts. *ponder* Nah, lets all just go play more majormud. So when is your next one coming online Miles? :yeah:

If you don't care, then what was the point in posting this?

[...]I don't want to run a BBS if it's not the best, and I simply don't have time to be the best[...]

Wake up and smell the damn coffee.... there is no such thing as "THE BEST". There are better... but not "THE BEST". Nothing can be "THE BEST". Some little shithole in the middle of no where with 2 users could be "THE BEST" to them cuz they don't know any better or don't bother to find better. But you run your mouth as your board being "THE BEST" when in fact its not at all. Its better than most... but simply not "THE BEST" nor will it ever be.

[...] Then again, take a look in the mirror or maybe a glance at your oversized tagline or maybe the hours you spend on writing Information sources for a 10 year outdated text-based fantasy roll playing game. [...]

Just thought I would let you know... Using an editor to edit dat files can't be put on a resume... However creating a website from scratch for a 10 year old outdated text-base fantasy roll playing game that creates around 15gb of text-based bandwidth a month... looks damn good on a resume. Content doesn't matter, its programming behind it that does.

I knew someone that thru tantrums just like you and he ended up in rehab for 6 months... Maybe thats the best thing for you.... cuz damn you got some fucked up personality disorders... one minute you are a grown man and the next you are a 2 year old boy that wants everything and aren't allowed to have it.

You started off this essay most profoundly proficient in your writings. You explained what was going on, which we all would have LOVED for you to do about a week ago, and it explained everything that was going on. Its sad that you have to let it all go because you are no longer a man and can't hack the fact of being "gasp" overworked. Welcome to real-fucking-life man. It sucks when you have to work when you go to work ,I know flipping burgers is a bitch, its my 'J O B' when we go camping, but you need to face the facts. Once your internet service was restored you could have fully written an apologenic post, as you almost accomplish here, and the bitchfest would have come to a slow grinding halt. But instead you continue to run your mouth and start attacking peoples' character which is horrible form on your part. If I was your boss, I would have fired you on the spot knowing the fact that you can't handle a stress related situation dealing with a, let me quote it again for you:

[...] 10 year outdated text-based fantasy roll playing game. [...]

because O-MY-GOD you threw a tantrum over 10 year old outdated SOFTWARE!!! Let me repeat that...

S O F T W A R E.

Holy fuck.

all the time spent, with all that kai got worked out, good thing he could count on you huh?

Wow, sure wish you knew what you were talking about... the private messages from me to Kai would probably clear up that head-up-ass thing you seem to have going. I wasn't aware my name would be posted as a credit to Dragon Legends, BECAUSE I hadn't done anything - and I admitted such. Who the fuck are you anyhow, to think you know so much?

See the thing is some get in over their head running muds, do not handle other things well. again with the dick thing? what the hell is a "homorectual"?

Miles, when stressed just seems to show it by being overly manic and aggressive to control, even if in vain. He will do fine if he doesn't die from worry over a stupid damn mud. did you even read what you posted, your own little "life advice"? And why is Miles exempt from flaming for being a retard and being stressed and manic like the rest of us working joes?

Maybe a "Save the homo hobo" forum is needed to keep you trying to get that post number up more and keep you out of the truck stops and adult book stores seeking that elusive "dick" you can't seem to get out of your thoughts. *ponder* Nah, lets all just go play more majormud. I think you need to take the dick out of your mouth, ripper, Miles' dick seemingly, as you kiss his ass like it's got cream filling in it. My post number is up because I've been posting in this forum for over a year, dumbass.

Bottom line, ripper, I think you need to take the "growing up" classes along with Miles, as your poor attempts at personal insults are childish and mean absolutely nothing because they are completely without merit. I hope you feel like a dumbass, because your post makes you look that way - flames are only effective or funny when they actually apply to reality, not something made up in your own little fantasy world.

Oh, and by the way, what happened to your "comparison" of Miles' "vision" and mine? And where did my "vision" come from? Your little fantasy world again?

Don't get me wrong, you didn't irritate or aggravate me in the least, just made me think "wow, this guy is a fucking moron"... and also "hrm, wonder if miles has a brother or a little sister", and "maybe this is miles' alter ego"... seriously, read your posts before you submit them.

In my opinion, Mile's becomes horny off of people flaming him. It's called fireroticism... Quite plainly, sexual stimulation from negative feelings...

Miles... You made a great mud, but you constantly made an ass out of yourself... which not only hurt your reputation but hurt your boards.

I am quite glad to see the board in Drago's hand's now. I believe himself, Astaroth, and REX will be a good thing for the board. They do not have 'egotistical, omniscient' attitudes like you many times have portrayed.

Again... I respect the work that you have done... but you are one of the lowest forms of life I have ever encountered... second to Moo/Ant of course (it's quite tough to go lower than that).

Props to Drago for hosting the server on his pc.
