File Associations and WG (WAS: Can I have my cake and eat it to?)

I have a problem with worldgroup 3.3, everytime I install office 2003. After a successful install the files in my wg directory have been converted to microsoft files or at least have microsoft office logo's on them. Which I think is causing the problem, I am just wondering if their is a way to stop office from just assuming any file that ends in *.xls or whatever is their file. After an install the board loads into memory or attempts to but nothing on the screen. With office unistalled it works fine.

Thanks

usually theres an option on the install screen what to associate a file with..if not you can go to the .xls files, right click, select the "open with" option, and choose unknown and make it the default for all file types...

might work.

they are just file associations, it wouldn't cause any problems with WG. windows sees an extension (.xls) and applies the appropriate icon to it and that's it. it doesn't do any modifications to the file.
