Other Edits: I took out the caveworm, now wait a sec hear me out, I added a new area under the town square sewers, a whole new area, new monsters that drop cash and a special item and a new boss in this area. This is a level 1-15 restricted area and a whole lot better than 15 people fighting 1 cave worm and then not having the cash to level. I also added a new area down by the slums that is a higher level area, be careful going in because you may just get dusted. (a little hint there). There are also some other surprises there and a quest in the making.
In the file area of the BBS there will be Mega paths for these areas. The caveworm replacement will be a full loop, however the other new areas we kinda thought you would like to explore on your own (remember to look for hidden paths) so we will have paths to get you there but the rest is up to you.
A little about me, I have been hooked on MajorMUD since version 1.0 many, many years ago. I am not new to being a Sysop, in fact I have run a few games in the past. After we moved from a big city to a small town the board had to come down because al that was available was dial up and there was no way that was going to work. After pleading with the local cable company the town I live in is being connected to digital cable and we are having a cable modem installed at the end of May. We have been working out the bugs on our MUD for two years now and we will have a full game, edited, new areas, new races, new items, new bosses ready and waiting to go up the minute the cable modem is installed.
For the first couple of weeks will will be beta testing because I know there are bugs here that I haven't found yet, and I know a lot of you players know what to look for. I want a smooth running system where everyone will have fun. So log on, look around but remember we will reset so everyone has a fair shot after we are done testing. That is the only reset I ever expect to do (for a very long time.)
Also, no edited mud is ever finished. Anyone with ideas for areas, weapons, bosses, classes...speak up. The only way everyone can have fun is if everyone is involved.
Now the bad news (for some). This is only my opinion but I really hate the boards where the exp is 20x, races and classes are maxed out and you get to level 50 in one day. OK, I admit it's fun at first to kill a lashworm in the arena and make level 1, but then it gets old fast and you get bored. I haven't added teleportation rooms to do the quests because that just makes entire areas of the game obsolete. However, everyone will get sys map and sys goto because sometimes you just can't play the game without them.
About the number of accounts, I understand some people like to make up to 6 characters and go on parties by themselves, wheres the fun in that? So, I thought limiting to one free account was a good idea since alot of players use a second for a holder anyway. If you want a holder (or legit second or third) you have to pay rent, because items shouldn't be held they should be played. (plus it helps to pay the bills). If you can't use it, hide it, hide it good or purchase a ganghouse. By the way, level 10 quest items are available for everyone, as they always should have been. You still have to work for them, putting them in shops is just too easy.
This is enough of a teaser for now, we will be putting up a website soon with more info and also hope to have MM Explorer files ready.
If you have any suggestions, just speak up.
