Create a New Neutral Mob, Worth 1 Exp. A Neutral Mob Summon spell directed towards a target will automatically attack them when summoned. If they are (Charmed), They will engage in whatever you engage. They don't follow very well, but are definately fun. If a monster is chasing you and you Summon a mob against it, It will stop chase. You would want it neutral so that it would not attack low level characters, but make sure to mark it Evil in Combat..

An idea like this is pretty hard to fit in a realm, but I this is the *BETA* phase of my 2nd realm(no safe rooms). So if this looks unbalanced, Its because it's still being tested.

Do you have a method of making it so the summoner can only have 1(or some set max #) of summoned pets at a time? It's a damn cool idea and would be fun but I would think you'd need some kind of limit to how many creatures you could summon but not sure if it's possible to do so. One other question cause I can't remember from past experience(as charm in a normal realm has limited use) do room spells from other monsters hit all charmed/summoned monsters you have if they're not attacking the specific creature casting the room? My guess is no but just wondering.

might be able to do a duration to keep em limited..but other than that, no there is no max (besides making them costly in mana)

as far as the other Q, no idea.

Metro really needs to redo controling monsters before summoners can be worth much as a class, imho.

the only max I am aware of is the max mons per room after the max is reached you still waste the mana and the spell but no mons, but then again its been awhile since I had a summoner on a board

i'm curious if anyone has any idea on exactly how the damage from charmed/summoned monsters is calculated... from what i can tell, they do almost nothing to other monsters, but use regular attacks against players. i'm wondering if anyone knows, somehow, the way damage from monster vs monster is figured. i'm guessing, based on absolutely no evidence, that it's based on the 'level/multiplier' field in the monster dat, and if so summoned monsters could actually work to a degree (aside from the map restrictions, the screwed up area attacks, and the absolute max of 15 monsters per room).

not sure how the mons vs mons is figured, however map restrictions on the mons summoned don't exist to my knowledge. Our biggest problem with the class(conjurer) on abcbbs was that all the safe rooms also were getting filled up and we didn't take the time to give their lifespan a duration.Nothing like sitting in safe rooms summoning mons on people drop them and drag them out and finish killing them ;)

aside from the imprecise damage on monster vs monster damage, i'm pretty sure summoned/charmed monsters can't follow over map boundaries... this was the case when miles first tested it afaik, and most likely still applies now. i haven't tested it personally, so things might have changed or i might just be wrong... but even aside from the other problems, having to make the entire game fit on one map would be incredibly cumbersome and not worth the trouble.

honestly I can't remember the extent of their following/chasing users when summoned, you are probably right tho about them not crossing map boundries.

No, they wont chase over map changes.. but that is sort of the restriction they have, the mobs dont follow well in the first place anyway. Read my original post on how to create the summons.. If you create your own monsters, you can fix the area-spell threats.. and if you make it so it has to be directed towards a target, you cant cast it in safe-rooms and it also follows PvP restrictions. If you make them neutral, they cant be all that abused.. As they attack any target you attack.

hmm interesting, i'll have to check that out... after you've summoned them, will they change targets, or is it just for a single fight and then they sit around thereafter? and also, will they use their defined attacks on other monsters? eg dark wiz casting colour spray and swinging with thunderstaff, rather than just showing 'dark wizard just attacked such-and-such' like it does with charmed monsters.
