I'm having trouble with XP home again. So I tried to install DirectX 9.0b from this Halo rip a friend lent me, but windows tells me that its not driver signed, and aborts the install. First off, DirectX isn't a driver, its an API, but whatever, and secondly its made by microsoft, so how can it not be signed?

Anyway, I went into control panel:system:hardware:driver signing and set it to "ignore," but I'm getting the same error. I tried going to the MS update site and got DX9 there but I got the same error. Then, a few days ago when I tried to install the latest security fix at the Microsoft update site, it gave me the same error. I was able to download last month's updates without a hitch. I've tried installing under safe mode, and that doesn't help. I'm running XP home SP1 with dx 8.1, a gf4 ti4200 and an audigy 2 (all the latest drivers) on my kt400 amd board.



Anyone have a clue whats wrong?

I don't have any help... But I also have a KT400 board with AMD processor, audigy 2, and ATI Radeon 9700, along with windows xp pro. I've had nothing but headaches with drivers. There's some sort of inexplicable driver conflict on startup. Windows will just crash without so much as a warning as soon as I can see things loading into my taskbar tray. Very annoying. Sorry, just thought I'd vent.
