well i had this whole post typed out and by the time i got done it (typing the results of things as i try them) wg now works. but this is what was happening, and still happening to an extent.



sometimes when i would exit the disable modules utility the setup wizard loads up --the one where it asks you for the system name, sysop information, public/private, ip address, etc. this would also happen when loading/closing the menu editor (wgsrunmt).



the major problem was wg wouldn't load. i would have to end task wgsinit from the end task window. i've seen this before, but never on a fresh install. now wg loads everytime (so far), but i still cant get the menu editor to load consistently. it seems after everytime i load wg successfully, the menu editor wont work until i end task the wgsinit once, then after that it loads.



i've tried uninstalling and then deleting the folder and registry keys and then reinstalling. i've even had someone send me their wg 3.3 to make sure it wasn't my install.

just installed mud ... guess what, wg doesn't load again.



i tried to load it about 5 times (end tasking wgsinit in between each try) and nothing. so then i go to try the menu editor, same thing. so i end task wgsinit and then the menu editor loads. i close it, and now wg works again. wtf.

anyone else have an idea on this? i'm pretty stumped. wg 3.2 doesn't work either. i dont think reloading my OS will do anything because i just installed it fresh last week after upgrading my pc. i'm pretty cornered cause i cant do any testing with WG and shit for nmr development.

I dunno man..that sounds really weird, didnt you already have it installed at one time? Why'd it have to be reinstalled?

... because i upgraded my pc and reformatted/reinstalled windows

man mines done that afew times , the only thing i did was load right over it with 3.3 , then go back and reload 3.2 back over it without deleteing anything , or uninstalling anything. its always when i reformat and do a completely fresh install it bunks out like that on me , i kinda thought that was normal so i never posted it here. something with all the files not wanting to extract and install fully

Was there ever a resolution to this? I'm having the same problem and didn't know if others had figuerd it out yet...

create a shortcut to wgsappgo.exe somewhere. go to the properties of it and to the compatibility tab. put it on windows 95 compatiblity.

Well, I didn't have WG installed, so I gave it an install. And now it's working. Only thing I did differently - different install dir. This time I left it at the default dir instead of e:\wgserv



So yeah, if you run into this problem - try a different install dir.
