demo board, ansi user system type ?

I am running 3.3 demo WG. Some of my users are not seeing ansi colors in the main area. they can see the ansi colors for the logon screen, but not for the main menus and door files. The system type on these users is set to NO for ansi support. In the support and account edit menus you can change your language/ansi settings, but even though you tell it to make it English/ansi it will still have the Sytem type to Ansi is OFF.

I think what happened is when they started a new user id they pressed NO for the question "is this blinking" which turned there ansi support off. unfortunatly I can't find an option to turn it on for the user. Is there a user key I need to set or an option in one of the support programs that I should be looking for to edit this option?

thanks for your help...

And I have searched this forum back and forth :)

the easiest way would be to go to your wg's web remote console... its http://worldgroup_ip/remote

(you must have wg's web server enabled)

you will login with the sysop accout

go to accounts and find the user

under language pref select english/ansi

also, the global ansi toggle is =a

It is not the language protocall I need to change it is the actual option for ANSI support. When you go into a Worldgroup bbs and look at your account information and you tell it to show you account DETAILS. on of the items listed is "ANSI = On/Off". The user language protocal is set correctly to ENGLISH/ANSI but the option to support "ANSI" is off in the users account information.

People who have that item listed as ANSI = ON can see ansi all the way through the demo MUD and other system menues, The people who have it showing ANSI = OFF only see the traditional green in the menues and beyond. Both sets of users have the correct user protocal set to ENglish/Ansi.

I need to edit the ANSI setting NOT the language protocall.

thanks

try searching worldgroup general settings for language, i dont have worldgroup anymore or i would give you exact settig, but basically you want to set it to force ansi as a language.

Worldgroup General Setup -

ANSIOP - Initial ANSI setting at start of session

set it to on...

i know what you rare asking thumper but i dont think its possible to change that after the account was created.. they still should be able to do the global ;a or =a to turn ansi on

ah, ok. i didnt mean to say you didnt know what you were talking about. I just thought you missunderstood the question. Thanks for the information.

I wish they had a more complete edit option for a sysop toward the customers.

thanks

;a or =a does not seem to wrok. I am probably unfamiliar with the execution of such commands. Where or when would I type such commands. They do not work in the menu systems on the BBS or in MUD.

thanks

I figured it out, incase anyone wants to know. In the Window Worldgroupserver that comes up when your server is by the Registry edit value to (1), you can edit peoples acounts in the Acount tab and by page up or down select a user and with arrow key select a field. go to the system item on the account page and press space to cycle through the forms, On of which is ANSI ON.

I hope it works as the person who uses the account would have to get on for me to ask...

thanks for all the help.

much apreciation.

Thomas

worst wording ever ...

i think you meant ... In the Worldgroup Server window that comes up you can change the console style by editing a registry value to 1. you can edit people's accounts in the Acount tab by using page up or down to select a user and the arrow keys to select a field.

...and the registry key you edit is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Galacticomm\Worldgroup Server\CurrentVersion

"UseConsoleWindow" - DWORD, Value: 1

sorry for the bad typing. :)

but that didnt work. I had to allow Mud to save his character even when his user id was deleted. Then I deleted his user ID, then let him relogon under the same user id and mud automaticaly reassigned him his old character.

a lot of work for something so simple as to have an option to edit someones ANSI ability. the User interface option does not work.

oh well. at least I got it to work.
