Ok so lately, on top of windows fucking a hard drive of mine, its been self rebooting. I mean at various times, it will just power off and reset. then when it does, it tries to boot off the WRONG hard drive and gives me errors cause it cant find the OS. It just crashed on me, and for it to boot off the RIGHT hard drive, i had to unplug all my other hard drives.... anyone know what the fucks going on with my computer?

Check your power cable on the back of the computer (it could be loose..) Also check your power supply. It could be overloaded. CPU could be getting hot... or a bad temp sensor on the motherboard could be causing it to reboot because it thinks your CPU is hot..

when did you last run a virus check? that sounds like the MS Blaster worm that went around. it randomly reboot your PC.

Ran a virus check yesterday. No viruses were found. and i ran more than 1 scanner, including a realy decent online one.



My comp does not have a heat sensor. Its an older AMD 850 board. as for the power supply, im checking into getting a new one cause i thought about that too.



As for temp problems. i kinda solved that by installing a giant fan next to my computer.... the box is always room temp and enough air hits the parts to keep em cool.

I had the same symptoms your having... I found a great web-site on "Crash Protection" ... Unfortuntely I lost the link, Simply search for Crash protection in Google. The main problems I was having was temp problems. I did the same thing you did i loaded an outboard box fan outside the casing of my computer. It seemed to help but didnt really solve the problem, I read on that website that dust buildup is the main contributor to overheating.



Also, like Syntax said, Your cables could be lose, or even faulty.. Try replacing them completely? Perhaps your motherboard has a bad connection as well.. and if it's not a virus, Then it is likely a hardware issue. I had the reboot problem still after making all these corrections. My system still ran fairly stable but was not at 100%. I later re-positioned the hard-drive so that it would get hit by the fan more directly - Solved the problem. Perhaps HD#1 is overheating and shutting down, making it want to read HD#2? Ditch #2, and any extra components you have hooked up to your powersource, It could also be the lack of power (I bought a larger power source as well to fix the problem.)

Shortly here im gonna get several computer fans to further cut down on the temp issues. I unplugged everything last time that was not needed, and it still needed to reboot itself last night for some reason. It does seem to be doing better with out the older drives connected... which makes me question them, but oh well. Once i get the shit off the other hard drive i need to fix, im putting it in my spare box/
