That is the error my wife is getting when trying to run megamud on Windows ME. Anyone have any idea how to fix it? We have reinstalled it 3 times now.

That happened to me when i tried transferring files from s to t. Just load up mega, then click create new char. then just use the same bbs file but redo everything else, then save character and you should be all set.

Or just open up your character's .ini file and change the character directory.

i had this problem before as well. and the biggest problem i had, was my megamud would NOT load up. period. same error. but everyone says well open it and create this or open it and do that. it simply would not load up. i would get the error and it would shut down. i tried installing megamud on my laptop and making sure it worked there. then copying the entire directory over to my desktop. no dice. i tried rewriting the ini file for my char, and for megamud, no dice. i couldnt use megamud until after i reformatted my drive (which is usually every couple months anyhow) and reinstalling a complete fresh version.



however, i have not heard of anyone having these errors on windows ME. everyone i know that has had problems, it has always been on XP.

Worse comes to worse, deltree megamud, remove registry data, remove registration data from win.ini, and your system is clean of megamud. Reinstall.

Then it was a system-specific bug, had nothing to do with Mega. Either way, it's a moot point, doesn't really apply to this situation. All he's gotta do is change his char directory in the ini and he's straight, or create new chars.

He was wrong I do not have win me I have Win xp but anyways like someone else said I can not even get Mega to load to create a new char, I have done a complete delete of all files related to mega on my computer including the reg and win.ini file.. Reinstalled and still nothin..



I can not format my drive and start over and will not for mega cause I have no time nor the want to reinstall everything for my work as well..

It must be set to auto load last .ini file. try deleting all the ini's through windows explorer. after you delete them, try loading up mega again. it might come up cuz there is no ini for it to load. then you can try to make a new char.

Edit all of your character .ini files to reflect the current directory (c:\Program Files\Megamud\chars) or whatever it is. Make sure you change DataDir, ImportDir, CaptureDir, DownloadDir, LogFile, and remove whatever is behind the SelPath, CurPath, and DefaultLoop variables. You could be loading a char in a directory that doesn't exist, or trying to loop an area that doesn't exist. After you do that, go to the \Megamud directory and run "Megamud -v chars\YourCharacterFile.ini" whereas YourCharacterFile = Your Character File.



I've had problems with loading loops and loading chars that don't exist. If this don't work, then I'm clueless.
