MSBLASTER 32, Question [Archive] - ForumsHQ

My uncles computer has the blaster virus....
I **FINALLY** upgraded my machine to XP, but I have SP1 & 1a and the patch for the MSblaster.
But What I want to know is, if I download the fix, and put both service packs, the patch, and the fix on a CD, can he install the whole works on his machine or do I have to run the fix, and then download the patch and service packs directly from Microsoft onto his machine?

that should be able to work if you have the install files for the service packs. Worst case scenerio is to download a
1) firewall
and then the 2 blaster removal files
then you would install/run the firewall and then run the removals, and then he should be able to go about business as normal.

My machine needs the 2k sp installed..wanna bring yer disk? ;)
I have sp3, but it won't install..errors out about 40% thru..my other machine worked fine, so it's not the sp file.

you know how many times your just sitting at a friends and they "just happen to bring it up" when you work in the field it comes up almost everywhere you go. So its just easier to keep a copy in your backpack for those moments :P
And Kai I know you better than that, your the same f'n way :P

Pantharen, just follow the removal instructions. Once you clean it you can put the patch on and update the computer (don't believe you can until it's removed.)
Kill the process msblast.exe, remove the key from your registry, and then delete the files from your windows/system32/ directory.
