You didn't ask. You just assumed.
I'm going to assume that the fires we are having up here are/have been broadcasted on CNN.
Currently in my province alone there are 850 fire raging out of control.
Kelowna is the 3rd largest from The Province newspaper
"Officials had issued an evacuation alert earlier in the week as the mushrooming Okanagan Mountain Park fire inched closer, measuring 130 square kilometres by yesterday."
130 kilometers is approximatly 75 to 80 square miles.
the fire in Kamloops (which is about 3 hours North West of Kelowna) is almost double the size at 250 square kilometers.

no one is quite sure on the Kelown fire, but the Kamloops fire was an accident.
Here are clips from a website from the Newpapers .
Here is a link where I got the points of reference.
http://canada.com/national/story.asp?id=AEB38859-A6BE-418D-835B-48AC8231FBD0
826 forest fires were burning in B.C. on Friday, 685 of them in the Kamloops and southeast fire divisions.
To date this year, 2,162 fires have been reported, and 170,000 hectares of forest burned -- one-third the size of Prince Edward Island.
Winds were gusting from 40 to 60 kilometres per hour, compared with only 10 km/h Thursday when the Okanagan Mountain fire first rushed at Kelowna. It covered 17,000 hectares by mid-day Friday, more than 40 times the size of Vancouver's Stanley Park.
Point of reference; Stanly park is almost 10x the size of Central Park in NYC. (see picture from space (2000 kilometers up)

I agree, it is a very kool picture, devestating as all hell yes, But very kool at the same time.
The area this picture is from, is on Okanagan Lake, the distance from the fire, to that dock, is only like less than 2 miles (5kms)
