Ok, I have two Win2K machines (one has service pack 3, the other won't install it, but that's a diff prob...)



I am running them together on a D-Link 4 port 10/100 hub, and both have the same network cards that came with the hub..however, they won't work at all on 100Mbps, only 10. But I'm also pinging each other and only getting 25% average go through.



I'm basically just looking for some help in any way...Either ways to get them up to communicate 100% (at least 75% would be nice, since I time out copying anything, and can't game at all); or, suggestions for upgrades :/

i agree.. There's something you can try tho. Download a network registry patch from www.speedguide.net and see if maybe it's a setting screwed up in the registry.

could be a protocol issue. try uninstalling and reinstalling the tcp/ip protocols on both machines. and win2k SP4 is out too, btw.

check the network card settings... could be set to only connect at 10

Its set to Auto

removes netbios and ipx/spx from win2k...... should speed things up a tad...



hrm try assigning them ips... like 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

set it to 100 instead of auto.. maybe it's reading it wrong.

The one without SP3 has a setting for 10, 100, auto..the other one with SP3 doesn't have those options...I think it might not have the same NIC. Also, I don't have netbios or ipx because it didn't even have those to install, just TCP/IP, I think theres another one, but I'm not at home to see (I don't have internet at home either, btw)

So why even use a hub if you dont have inet? unless you have more than 2 machines. all i can say is maybe find newer drivers for the nics.. being that you dont have internet makes that kind of difficult.
