when speaking with maxmillion after killing the rotting beholder i got an ancient paper, which he directed me to take to his brother in rhudaur. i tried speaking with balthazar, the old man, and the dread mystic about the subject and none of them gave me a response/took my paper.



maxmillion said that his brother was a student of kai.



any suggestions?

-textblock 9672 takes the paper and then runs 9673 (which is just dialog.)

-9672 is executed after showing the dialog of 9668

-9668 is is executed by 1407 when you ask "brother"

-1407 is the old man's greet text



so to answer your question, the "old man". though, looking at all the blocks i don't see any type of reward or flag given anywhere. it looks like it's just dialog.

Yeah..you don't have to do that part. Did you start the quest by talking to the ancient gypsy woman, or by takling to the old hermit first?



I *think* either can start the quest, and if you start by the hermit you MUST talk to the old man.



That's how it was before 1.11m anyway, maybe 1.11m fixed that.



It's pretty lame, in my opinion, for anyone to make it so you have to run from the Library above Arlysia to Rhudaur legitimately in this game and still have fun.



Shit, I play with sys goto's and the time involved in some things is still pretty lame. Like getting a red rock key to get to the red demonling. That's a crock of shit itself as well.
