Anyone still playing DoorMUD on Dead-On? DoorMUD forum has been kinda dead-ish for a month... doh!

I'm beginning work on DoorMUD v0.99 this week. Adds some minor new stuff and fixes the two or three minor bugs that people have found in the past year. Also adds Class and Race editing to the World Editor (altho, classes can only be edited if the game world has already been somewhat edited -- this restriction is to prevent sysops from randomly messing w/ the classes and nothing else)

Also, I just released a new door today, Tournament Trivia. Gameplay is similar to Farwest, TeleTrivia, IRC trivia bots, etc. Question file is small but growing, currently at 820 questions. But they're high-quality modern questions at least, unlike all those older BBS trivia games that have no questions on anything past 1992 :P

I have some other coders helping to convert public-domain trivia databases (from freeware IRC bots, random free internet databases, etc) into my door's format, and the door allows you to import these as third-party files. So with these the game should soon support 3000+ questions.

Runs on Synchronet, so any WG sysop w/ a door server can run it. At $12 it's a lot cheaper than the WG trivia games :D Sysops can even get it cheaper or free if they help out by submitting trivia questions. Info: http://trivia.doormud.com

This fall I'll hopefully begin working on DoorMUD v1.x, which will be a complete re-write of the game. Added features will include: telnet server, rlogin server, support for importing/exporting third-party modules, HUGE amount of customization available (hopefully right down to the stat formulas), and more. The game will also be a on a much larger scale, which should appeal more to MajorMud'ers. By default the game will still be non-scripting based, but it will be configurable to cater to scripting if the sysop prefers.

if i ever get time... i'm usually busy with lots of other things

i probably average 1-2 hours of computer games a month...

and those 1-2 hours is usually an occasional game of worms or yahoo pool or something ;)

Hmm... maybe Dead-On could be setup as an inter-BBS door hub, if the admins are up for it... ie, allow rlogin connects from a few of the other WorldGroup boards in the edited MUD community. (can be done easily in Sync's telnet/rlogin server config).

That way, with say 5 different boards using Dead-On as their door server, there'd be a potentially larger player base for doorMUD + the other doors... hopefully the games would be more active :)
