Major console price drops imminent in the USA?

Sources at key US retailer Gamestop have indicated that a $50 price drop on all three major consoles may happen in the coming weeks, although it's not clear whether these are in-store promotions or official price cuts.



According to a source quoted on US console news site Consolegold.com, Gamestop stores have received promotional materials advertising $50 off each console - apparently confirming rumours that price drops to the consoles would happen before the E3 trade show in Los Angeles in mid-May.



These cuts would bring the GameCube to 99.99USD (89.61EUR), and the PS2 and Xbox to 149.99USD (134.42EUR). In other words, all three consoles would be available for under 400USD (358.48EUR) - a move bound to vastly increase the number of people owning multiple platforms.

well folks i have all three systems....i love them, wouldn't trade any of them for the world...I happened to pick up each one on the date of release. my big deal is a new xbox, so that i can mod this one.....now that it's not going to be 200 bux anymore....hehe ;)

same here, i got all three. all on date of release as well. ps2 and xbox both modded myself.

i don't want to screw mine up that's the only reason i've waited to do it, i've heard that the newer xboxs are harder to mod, is thta true? ne how pm me and let me in on the details of modding please, i've seen so many different mods out there, i don't want to F**k up and get the wrong thing

Search for xbox mod and you will find a thread with a wealth of information on xbox modding. It's easy if you get the right mod chip (The matrix, I think). All ya gotta do is line it up and screw it in. No soldering needed.

just an update, there is a new PS2 version coming out that makes some decent changes (along with the new remote that comes with it)

1) plays burned DVDs (games tho? doubt it without a m*d)

2) infrared port built in (no more ps2 remote eating up a slot)

3) quieter



Remote extras:

1) opens/closes tray

2) turns the fucking ps2 on and off finally

my ps2 stopped working basically..i have to turn the bitch on and change all the settings and reset it and change em all and reset it and change em all and do this about 10 times before any of my games will play...



I guess I should send it to the fuckers.
