How hard is it to fuck your xbox up if u try to install a mod chip without knowing anything about soldering electronics, etc? I wanna get one, but I'm not gonna send my box away to some people so it "gets lost in the mail" and theres $200+mod chip\installation down the drain.

If you haven't had some electronics training, I wouldn't recommend installing ANY mod chip. See if you've got any friends who've taken electronics if you're worried about the postman stealing your Box..

there are some pretty good walkthroughs, i did it myself and i'm a n00b at electronics, i wouldn't worry about it, it's really not that hard

I know Brunt put a modchip in, I forget where the post is on it though. It doesn't sound to hard but $200 bucks for me is a lot (heh I'm broke and jobless ATM)

There's an Xbox modchip that requires no soldering, and it works, but it only works on certiain versions of the xbox, and what that chip will let you do is not only play the copied ones, but also allow you to run the utils you can get to swap the xbox HD with a larger one, format it for the xbox and then just copy the games from your pc after you download them onto the hd and play them off of there. I know where to find the utils, and if you want help finding the chip lemme know. contact me on yahoo if that's the case

Its easy enough to do...but I would take an old motherboard and practice of you dont feel comfortable enough, or maybe find someone local who has done it. If you live in western wa I could help you out...

www.xbox-scene.com has all the tutorials you need. Everyone says to use a 15 watt soldering iron..I used a 30 watt...Ive had a little bit of practice, but I am still new to soldering. The Matrix is the mod chip that requires no soldering...and can get knocked out of alignment. I always thought though, if you put a dab of superglue, or rubber cement(some that you can break or peel out easily, but will hold the chip in place. E-mail me if you have any questions...Hindra@aol.com or Syntax.

getting knocked out of alignment with 3 screws holding it in place on the mb is pretty rough handling of an xbox lol

I was able to get my Xecuter II pro installed fairly easy and I am a complete noob at electronics. Now I did screw up my dvd drive trying to pot tweak it to read cd-r's but hopefully I will be able to replace it with a pc dvd drive. Right now I am stuck just with what I can find to download. I can't even play my originals.

The Xecutor II lite can also be attached without soldering. They have a pogo pin adaptor that you can use and they should be releasing a version that has the pogo pin already attached.

If you don't already have an xbox you should wait. I think there is another price drop coming, they just dropped it in europe so rumor has it that it should drop here also.

Yeah..might go down to $149 here...and if you dont want to solder, wait for the X2 lite + pogo pin attached. The Matrix, I believe only had 1 screw holding it in place. Thats why it could move around.
