Figured I'd post this for anyone who was curious or any sysops who have problems with their new KAI-based classes not casting any of the forms. First of all, just a basic thing, if you want people to learn the forms by training instead of hunting down the totems, just go in the dats and put a level on the "spell". And make sure it's listed as a Kai.... been awhile so I don't remember if they're like that by default or not. Anyway, on to the real reason why I'm posting.





New classes can NOT cast forms, neither can Mystics who are new races. Not until now anyway.. mwahahahahaha. Heh.



Check out the spell, look at abilities. It reads a text block. Go to the text block... you'll notice it does a race check for races 1-13, and each race check also does a class check for class 15. So it's basically metro's way of saying "f u" to us editors. But it's easy to bypass. Copy as many of the lines as you need for your new races... I have 26, so, I just copied the whole thing. Then change all the new lines on the race checks to read "race 14" "race 15" etc. Then your mystic can cast forms no matter what race they are. For additional kai classes, just put in a new part to the text block, copy everything over from the original text block part, and change "class 15" to "class 16" or "class 17" or whatever number your class is. It's fairly simple, but time consuming. I'm only posting this because I mentioned it to an op who has been editing longer than I have and he thought it was an "excellent find". So there ya go. Cast forms for all your races and classes. Have fun.

Just to add...the form spells (in j at least) were not kai, but any.

Yea i had fixed that awhile ago.. Casting and receiving them need to be fixed.

actually the purpose is just so that half-ogres can't learn/cast the forms.

actually after reading this again it's missing the part about the blocks you need to edit to learn the forms too. gotta go to Kuel's room and edit the room commands for that room. and why is this thread locked anyway? unlocking.

I found an easier way to do this. First, go to kuel's room and edit the room command text block and his greet text to allow the additional classes/races. Then go to the kai form spell, and in the textblock it reads, instead of copying all the lines over for added classes and races, just have it do 2 simple commands. Cast spell 878, then cast the actual form spell. ie. cast 878:cast 879| for crane form. Works just fine for me and saved a lot of thinking about textblocks ;)

nod, but the cmd text in kuels room checks to see if you're hog when learning forms and wont allow it unless you edit the race 10 line. I assume this was because the of the change race option back in the day. They probably didnt want someone being slick and raising a dwarf mystic till they get forms, then switch to hog and still be able to cast them.
