i was running the board just fine.. shut it down to make some changes, and when i went to bring it back up, i got a btrieve error.. couldnt open wccrace2.dat

i rebooted, now it says cant open wccuser2.dat

........ wtf, over?

did you make sure to complie the update file and run a mud recovery?

im pretty sure, if i didnt.. am i fucked?

not compiling a update file shouldnt do to much damage. just reset your edits... BUT - what kinda changes were you making?



i get errors on my wccuser2.dat when i don't shut down WG the right way. ie - when the power went out, it trashed mine...

well, i made edits, and the board ran like a charm, nothing wrong.. had it up for about 83 hours i think. then i took it down, opened nightmare, and it gave me all kinds of errors

then i didnt edit anything, so i ran the board to see if everything was ok. and thats when it happened, so.. i never edited anything between when the board was running and to when its screwed.



the only errors im getting now is, when i run nightmare it says that the dat file is the wrong version, and then when i run the board, it gives me the btrieve error 14 on wccuser2.dat



hrm.. if im screwed, im screwed, lemme know :)

oh yeah, i deleted wccuser2.dat and recovery made a new one and everything ran like a dream. but no users obviously. so.. basically.. everyone would have to start over on majormud, but all the items and shit would be messed up cuz they are on non-exsisting characters.. anyway... back to the point. what can i do? anything?.. later

If your running the newest nightmare you also have to make sure to set your version of MUD under the settings menu. Just an afterthought.

I make backups every night.. i have backups of backups of backups hehe.. I even have backups on an ftp server.. I take no chances.
