Revoked

I just received an email a few minutes ago from shannon the notorious metro, in which it states that they have revoked my license for mmud because of a thread on here which i stated that i downloaded version k, and she says that I said that i intended to redistribute it. In her email she also says that i have made several comments about editting my mud(which my mud is not editted).

Now I'm looking to you people in this forum for advice. What am I to do, what does this mean. What do they have to do to make it stand.

Now this all is in retalitation to me because last week I bashed them and their ignorance on their own forums and said I was going to sue them, this is beside the fact.

Tell them to shove their license up their ass. It is their software though, they can revoke your license if they wish for any reason. I really don't think it's in retaliation for anything, they come on here often and I bet they read all of our posts. I don't know who got K to us, but that person is a damn good man and should be praised. They don't have to do anything to make it stand, it is their software, you are basically SOL. Sorry dude.

This is, although, from the mind of a pothead who knows nothing about the law, but I always think I'm right.

They have to prove that you violated the terms of your license to remove it. Which I'm sure they could find other things to violate you on. If you don't have anything edited and didn't distribute it, then I'd let them know that their scare tactics need to be directed elsewhere. If you've done nothing to self-terminate your license, then make them prove that you did.

That lawsuit idea was a big joke, you'd spend more in legal bills than would be worth your time or return.

Hearsay doesn't stay up in court.

Fight fire with fire. Let them know you have done nothing to violate the terms of the license and as such you will continue to run their software.

Furthermore, since you have not violated their license agreement, you will continue obtaining latest versions of their software and continue running their software whether they like it or not.

Basically, what they did was most likely illegal. Of course I don't know what information they have on you, but from the way you put it, they are at fault.

I suggest going back through the license agreement and making sure you understand the terms yourself before even replying to Metro.

This is what they say they have on me

On 1/5/03 the user ID Gray Mouser posted in the mmb forums, which are

known

pirate forums, at this link:

http://mmb.forumshq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=820024d9c5ac3caec23b1a31c07f

66e8&threadid=3135

Additionally in these threads, you discuss editing your files, which is also in violation of our license agreement:

http://mmb.forumshq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3216

http://mmb.forumshq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3153

Both editing and redistribution of the 1.11k files are in direct

violation

of your license agreement.

Thanks,

Shannon

Now as I see it, I did not actually state what she said in the respect that i was distributing the software. As for the editting part, my mud is not editted and can be verfied by loggin into it. People can say and talk, but if they actually do things, that is a diff story. Do they have to serve me, do they have to take me to court?

Circumstantial evidence, but it does leave the impression that you have edited your system.

They will simply block you from the sysop forums and maybe the whole forums, then disallow you to update to newer versions. If they pursue this I'd contact a lawyer. Get a free consultation from one, don't pay. They couldn't have you arrested or sue you for violating the license agreement, however I've never looked through their license agreements.

[edit] maybe Aragon should look into requiring only validated members to peruse the forums? This won't stop them from looking as they've prolly got 15 jackasses with nothing better to do than play Johnny B. Detective. It's just a thought though =)
