Okay, I have been reading and reading for a couple days now, but still have a couple of questions.
Is this redux the latest updated version. I read somewhere i think that if i wanted to use this redux that i should do it on a fresh install? Is this required?

0.96 was the last version donut put out. The redux is what syntax has been working on, and is much more sophisticated than the one your currently using.
As for on a fresh mud, it depends on your mud version. The dat formats had changed in version 1.11h, so if your using anything before that, I don't believe nmr will work with it. And the nightmare your using won't work with the new dats.

you are running v1.11h now? ... thats easy to upgrade. go to https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53926 and download Nightmare Redux v0.7.32. Get the full install since you've never had the newest version. If you are only upgrading to v1.11i then do the following:
1. backup your database files (wcc*.dat) to somewhere safe
2. load up nmr and export your databases to an access database
3. install the new version of mud
4. load up the bbs and sit someone in the halls until you see "Automatic Database Update Complete" (NOT "Majormud Initialized") in the audit trail
5. shutdown the board and load up nmr
6. go to the database importer and select "skip existing" so you know that you will only import your new things. if you made lots of changes to the in-game monsters, you could select "update existing" and update them, but any changes they made for that particular upgrade would be lost.
7. after then import, compile an update file and go
things to note: before you import, check the new databases to make sure there aren't any new items/spells/monsters/etc with record numbers that may conflict with yours. if there are you'll have to use MS Access and change the record numbers in the access database before you import so they dont overwrite any in-game things. then after you've imported, go back to anyrthing that referenced those numbers you've changed and change them to the new numbers.
if you want to upgrade to v1.11J you'll have to wait for nightmare redux v0.7.51. I'm almost done with it. Only thing different with upgrading to that would be that they've done a lot of changes to the monsters (mainly exp) but also a lot of added power to the boss's. So you definately wouldn't want to update the in-game monsters with your export.
...
before you do the first export though, and between steps 5 and 6, check through each of the different editors (namely textblocks) and make sure everything is showing up correctly. if it is, then you shouldn't need to start with a fresh install. if not and things are all messed up looking, i guess just try to clean up the corruption .

I have a question with my mud version im running, i do have that thing which allows me to conjure but my levels trainable are set to a max of around 1.32bill??(this may not be the exact number but i think its close) It is around 100th lvl or so with a human 9%, warrior 11% exp chart. There have been several games which Ive played on and attained lvls well above 300 plus(it had willie wonkas chocolate factory, maybe it was called Nightmare or something, Demonics Realm??? again its been awhile )You could promote and reset your exp charts to allow lvls up to 300 or 350. Where can i get a mud version to allow additional training, and would i need a diff dll thingie mabobber...grin
When this does happen can i copy all my user dat info and use that without my payers havin to restart? If not thats not a big deal training is easy.
You need to edit your shops. Use nightmare, open up the trainer that you want in the shop editor, and up the training level. You can make the universal trainer train to whatever you want so you don't have to walk to timelord.

Are you *SURE* the char types "Help exp" and it shows he has enough to level? Around lvl 50-60, your exp gets messed up, so it says something like this:
Exp: 1385196401 Level: 58 Exp needed for next level: 0 (1321968193) [97%]
You have to go by the percentage. Help exp may say this:
59 1439286031
If you do type help exp, and the char has more exp than is shown, you have a bug that I've never seen nor heard of. Get a spell together or a monster that gives a billion or so exp, and kill it/cast it a few times. See what level you can train to. You have to playtest this yourself and try different situations. See if you have 20 billion exp if you are still maxed at lvl 100.
