How about an Overclocking Forum? Or we could all just post them in here ;)





Yes..I have now ruined a 1800+ CPU, an Asus A7V266-E motherboard, and a 512 stick of pc2100 ram..BUT, its all in the learning experience :)



I am now going for a tbred 1800+(comes unlocked), and maybe the new asus A7N8X(nforce2 chipset), and pc3500 ram(stable at 500+mhz!!)



I have proper cooling...160cfm :)



cpu I messed up from trying to unlock it with a safety pin..bad idea



Ram/mobo I messed up..pc2100 is supposed to ran at 266mhz..I had it at 324mhz hehe, ram just took motherboard with it.



Here is my system I bought in April

--AMD XP 1600+ 1.4 @ 1.7G (10.5x162) @ 44C(Now not doing anything)

--SLK-800 w/ 160CFM blower, AS3 & shim

--Asus A7V-266E MoBo (w/ RAID) @ 162 FSB(Toast)

--PC2100 512 Ram Kingston ValueRam @ 324Mhz(Toast)

--Xtacy GF4 Ti4600 @ 310/710

--60G & 7G HD(looking for 4 small hds to run in RAID for OS)

--Lite-on CD Burner 40x12x48 @ 48x12x48

--Hitatchi DVD-RAM Burner

--Generic DVD drive

--Audigy Gamer w/ 5300 5.1 Creative speakers.

--CHEAP: floppy, cables, NIC

--Running Windows XP



I plan on getting better temps and OCing once I mount the blower to the case!

it's not good for a anything to overclock it, yet you overclock ever single thing that you have.

Overclocking is too risky and not worth it. So what if you get a little extra power out of it, it worked fine before it was overclocked and now it's toast. Why bother. Just go get a more powerful card, you'll save money in the long run.

I disaggre, overclocking can have it's definate advantages, you just need to know when to stop. :)



Currently running a Athlon XP 1800 (1.5GHz) @ 1.64GHz. :) Got that little extra bit, but didn't go far enough to even risk burning anything out. :) (still running under 35C as well :))

So you get an extra 140mhz, oooooooh. That's nothing. Overclocking isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I wish I had the money to burn like Brunt does! :D

Anytime you overclock, you risk the chance of having to buy a new cpu etc. might not happen soon but theres a good chance it will happen

Im with Brunt. Yesterday i lost an Unlocked 1800+ and a locked 1600+ due to bad thermistors on the mobo, it sux.
