Problem with race/class edit - NOT adding new ones.. [Archive] - ForumsHQ

I know you cannot add races and classes without editing the dll to bypass the race/class check. I am experiencing a problem of a different sort. This problem is occuring after a fresh install of version 1.11h or 1.11i, I tried both. What I am doing, using a hex editor (or nightmare), it does not matter, is simply changing an existing class name. There are no other edits on these freshly installed files yet. If I change the class name 'Warrior' to something else, say 'Avenger' or 'Knight', it won't let you into the game. It errors out when you try to enter as follows:
There is a severe problem with the databases on this system.
It is not automatically resolvable.
Please ask your sysop to re-apply the latest database update.
If you take the board back down, hex edit the name back to 'Warrior', the problem goes away and everything is fine. It does not matter if you edit the wccclas2.dat file directly, or apply the wccupda2.dat file, either way, once the class file is updated the game thinks the file is corrupt.
I checked the dll to see if the word 'Warrior' was in there, thinking perhaps it not only checks for class 1 through 15, but also maybe it checks each class name, but nothing.
Am I missing something, or is it not possible to do this?
