Yeah.. and then people started thinking they could come here and do whatever the hell they wanted: ie repetitively ask for illegal content, repetitively flame on and on and on, and repetitively put offensive things in their sig. You think you can stop that?

This used to be ENCOURAGED. We used to have FTPs with links to everything under the sun in our signatures. You can not allow a group of people to do something for so long, and then expect that it will change at the drop of a hat. This is a forum dedicated to hex'ing majormud. Newbies are GOING to ask for things.

It's a forum with plenty of diverse attitudes. It has always happened, and will always happen. It's part of the job. You've got other moderators, let them deal with things.

Here's an idea! Post some RULES. It's simple for the people who have been here long enough, but new people or people that just don't give a crap need to have something to go by. Nobody knows what is offensive and what is not. I'm going to assume that I am included in the offensive signature topic, but if the phrase "Signatures are for pussies." is offensive to someone, they need to come out from under their rock, else have someone step on the rock and remove them from the gene pool. If I wanted my language to be moderated, I'd go elsewhere.

I would say the phrase "Signatures are for pussies." is the least of your worries if you want to moderate language.

There is no need to stop any of this. You run a great forum, but you are going to have the same people doing the same things. It has always happened. This would be a pretty boring forum if it were moderated as heavily as its starting to get.

Yea in the begining we allowed ftp's no problem we did not have the user base that we have now, and things have happened since to make us take a closer look on what we can and can not allow.



As far as newbies asking for things....have you not noticed that when they ask there post normaly dont get edited for at least a day or more? That is plenty of time to send a pm and say check this out! All we are doing is covering our ass on illegal content!



As far as offensive things in you sigs....in a post it happens we cant read every single post to see if someone said fuck shit ass.....and really we dont really care that much, but with someone who post alot and has something offensive in there sig, well you see that all the damn time.......and you take more offense to it than you would if u where just scannin a post!



I am going to have a talk with all the moderators about all this and maybe have them start truly moderating....if have to be I guess we can pick up a few new moderators.



I know this forum was made for hexing majormud.....and that is what its still for, they can't say shit about that. What they can say shit for is if MMB is hosting or giving the mean to Illegal downloads and such......



Its not that we are trying to be dicks about it but with the up in traffic and the past happenings we kinda had to tight'n up the belt!

When a forum such as this needs to tighten up, a notice should be posted. If there was such notice, and I missed it, shit I'm retarded and my bad. I just saw that all of a sudden, we weren't allowed to post ftps/links/etc, posts were getting filtered, and people were getting pissed. Your post was a good informative post, and should have been posted a while ago. Users need to be notified as well as moderators. I just want this place to lose the aggrivation. A single post would have solved it from the start, instead of finding things wrong and starting to crack down on single people. If you don't want curse words in sigs, tell everyone. If you don't want cracks/etc available, tell everyone. If you don't want to tighten up, tell everyone. It's MUCH easier than going post by post and closing this thread and editing that thread. Of course, it will work for the people you do it to, but what about the noobs, or the people who bypassed that thread. I think this thread sums it up, and I apologize if I seemed out of line, but it just seemed like all these rules were popping up out of nowhere. Maybe you should sticky this thread, make a new one with your post, or create a "Rules" section in the faq.
