Database Export??? [Archive] - ForumsHQ

Whenever I try to export the db into an access file the information never exports correctly. I've tried it with a completely blank db and with the db of my mud. Any clue why it does this?

The only information I can get is the Shops and Spells.

Basically all I'm looking to get is all the mud information from a blank mud. Rooms, Spells, Items, Shops, Monsters... etc etc. no edits or changes.

I appreciate any comments

uhmm..... if you export a blank database, you are going to get blank tables and blank information.

the exporter takes the data from the dats that you are working on and exports it to an access database. i don't understand what else you could think it's sapposed to do.

Chuckle, Syntax isn't the only one confused. If you want to export a blank mud, your going to get a blank db. You need to elaborate.

Sorry for not being clear.

Basically I want the information from MajorMUD in access. IE. Items: Names, Desc, Weapon Speed, Damage, Abilities and so on. By a Blank database, I meant I tried it on a fresh install of mud with no users or edits done to it.

I hope this helps.

can you edit all the databases with the normal forms?

what version dat files are you using?

do only the shops and spells export?

have you tried using the full v0.7.0 install (~20mb)?

I'm using the latest mud files from MajorMUD.com.

I'm using the full install of Nightmare Redux 0.7.0 Beta( I believe it was 18megs).

All of the tables are created

Actions - Looks Correct

Classes - " "

Items - Created but information is scattered, no item names, many values are the same accross all items

Messages - Looks Correct

Monsters - Same as Items

Races - Looks Correct

Rooms - Blank Table, but has proper columns

Shops - Looks Correct

Spells - " "

Textblocks - " "

the latest version off of majormud.com would be 1.11g. You can't download the newer demos off of their site anymore. This means you are running a pre-mod9 database format. You need at least 1.11h, preferably 1.11i+patch for NMR to work with it.

Ah, thanks for the information. I'll just have to get the update from them.

I got my updated mud and I was able to get all the info, one question though. In the spells Table, there doesn't seem to be a column for the spell's level, yet in nightmare you can look up a spell and it displays the spells level. Is the spell's level calculated somehow by the information in the spell table?

Also, I could be wrong but just something I noticed. In the exported Class table, there's a Min HP and Max Hp. The Min HP values are more than the Max HP values, perhaps the column labels need to be switched. No big deal, not that anyone really pays attention to it, just something I noticed.

good call on the spell field. that's pretty critical and also why this is beta still :). as for the min and max hp, max hp = max hp value + min hp value. NMR automatically adds them to show on the class editor.
