Ok latly ive been having problems, when i just want to use mud while not on the net i set the ip to loop back, you know a 127 address, but when i connect to the net i get the error about the ipaddr in the WG event log, when im on the net i have to go through and change the WG ipaddr to the one my provider gives me. the problem is that its not static and i have to change it every time i go on and off the net. Is there a way around this?

cheers all

theres one way around this if your computer only has 1 ip...

(no nic installed) set your ip addr in wg setup to AUTO.. if

you do have more than one ip already then you will have

to put it in every time it changes..

PanterraX has the right idea,it will automatically assign your IP accordingly.

so if i do that, if i use my comps host name as the ip in megamud will it still work everytime or will i need to change the ip in mega to whatever it is in WG?

The IP address thing in WG really doesnt have anything to do with the bbs itself if i remember correctly. WG is a server - it has http, ftp, mail, news, etc. services and some rely on IP for it's workings...

You should always just set the ip to AUTO regardless though.

localhost should work in mega.. (127.0.0.1)

or whatever dynamic ip you have at that point...

Nod Aragon, unless you use a router, then i would have all other PC's dynamically assigned and have the BBS PC assigned to a static IP.

ok well i do have a NIC was just seeing if i could do that anyway,

If i set the nics ip to auto would i be able to set WG to auto or am i destined to keep changing the ip over and over and over again?

and i have now set up mud to be able to sucessfully train to 500 anything over doesnt seem to want to work. Also my limited items dont seem to want to reindex into the quest halls or wherever is there a way to reindex em to where they're meant to be or are they created when that type of character is created?

:hump:

You could all ways go the route of getting a staic ip like dynu.com or one of the many. Dynu is free and it has a little program that will give you the staic ip.

what im doing is running a server just for my home use, im not putting it on the net, i only wanted mud and it seems to work fine, just wanna find a way to not have to change ips when i go on the net and try to log in or relog into mud and figure out the limited item problem doesnt list where they are at all, just like 10 or so of them and they're not the quest weapons, i dont know what they are.

Thanks

heh maybe try rewording the question better... if all u wanna

do is run it for using youself, just put 127.0.0.1 in for your ip

and leave it like that... getting on the net doesnt effect that

setting.. if u mean that somehow it should know which one

you want heh thats just not possible..
