ok here's a question. Any idea why the following text block does not work?



takeitem 2175 2614: testability 188 1:checkability 188 1:giveability 188 1





I made a new ability for a new quest, and its the 188. I made an item that must be turned in to an NPC to continue on in the quest, and that is #2175. 2614 is the fail message. So what's wrong here? Its just going to the next text block in the link. The one that gives the next set of instructions for the quest. It won't take the head. It even continues on if I DONT have the head to even give it. I must be missing something somewhere, but I dunno where. Argh.



teleport 3777 1:message 10166



This one is also not working. It will teleport to Map 1 Room 3777 correctly, but doesn't give the message. And just to clarify, yes I do have the Line Break at the end of the line, it just doesn't show up with cut n paste.

try making the "head" as you call it just something like "shit:80" and then put your "takeitem 2175 2614: testability 188 1:checkability 188 1:giveability 188 1" into the linkto and move your current linkto to another block. basically, shift everything back a level and put a "shit:80" first.



as for your teleport block i dunno. i found a similar block that has almost exactly what your doing but with a different room and message obviously. if that one works than your should to. textblock 370 has:



teleport 224 1:message 837



(also with the linebreak at the end). maybe check out message 837 and make sure your message is similar to that one?



-syntax

As far as my teleporting block, I copied the one the Grey Lord does to send ya to Town Square, and just changed the numbers to match what I needed. I assumed it would work. Maybe having my message be a 5 digit number affected it somehow? I don't know. I see what you're saying about the other block. I had it show the message, then do the action, not like the players would know the difference. But that didn't work, so I switched it to go to the action block first, then linking to the actual text block. That was a miserable failure, it put the text block commands on the screen for anybody to see. Growl. I'll do what you said and see if it works. I do have other blocks set up like that, except they go to an empty block which links to another one, I've seen others like that that work.



Doh, I just checked, the one that showed the "takeitem ####" etc text on the screen was linking to a block that wasnt even there. But I had it set up right before and still didnt work. .. I'm checking. (this has got to be a weird post here :) ) Aww fuck it I'll respond after I compile update. Heh.
