how do you use this? I tried on 2 diff pcs (one 32 and one 64 bit) and I get nothing but runtime errors on 32 bit, and 64 wont even do anything

I dunno, I was sent the file with a package from a source that wishes to remain anonymous. He said that I might be able to find some use for it. I wrote them an email a few minutes ago to see if it is for MMUD version A through R. Here is a cap of the part of the help file in it.

The source code may be lost to time, but I will see if there is a way to get it. I do not feel like unpacking it, but remember this editor is from the heyday of MMUD and is great if you collect MMUD and everything made for it.

Here is a cap from the help file:

MajorMUD Editor 98 is a utility designed to edit MajorMUD, successor to
MajorMUD Editor.

In early 1998, the creators of MajorMUD decided to take a bite against
BBS's who edit their data by requiring WCCUPDAT.DAT (the update information
file) to be present. Not one day later, Crimson Connections began its bite
back. MajorMUD Editor 98 was born. This new breed of editor edits the
WCCUPDAT.DAT file itself, thus closing the link.

As it turns out, this attempt to eliminate use of the editor has only
expanded the service and at least doubled the capabilities of the new
editor.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. Features
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

MajorMUD Editor 98 is chock-full of brand new features. Here is a
quick reentry of a few things.

o Pop-up lists for quick and easy editing
o Line editor for quick and easy string editing
o Use arrow and function keys to navigate the new menu system
o Edits ONLY what you change, as opposed to changing a whole record
o Cache system speeds up file handling
o Creates sorted indexes for use with MME98
o MME98 initialization displays status and problems

* Note that WCC can add to the problems presented to MME98 at any time.
It takes time to counter these problems. Because of this, we are
waiting for 1.1r to come out, as I suspect Lance has a few new tricks.

to fix runtime error 200 for old dos programs. use TPPatch (see attachment)

learned that from the doormud programmer. Many old doors needed this fix.

now i get another error , no mme98.idx --- i'm also not running the program anyware near an install of majormud. That could be a problem.

Nod, that was the program Lance was fighting when WCC owned Majormud. I have gotten alot in this package. Some of it is good others welll, it is what it is. I thought that collectors might like to have the original editor program that gave WCC a run for their program knowledge.
