If I edit a bunch of stuff on one system then want to transfer the new edited dat files to the actual BBS system what's the list of files that I need to copy? *This is assuming I'm editing pretty much everything but players, gangs and bankbooks. *Should I just copy all the dats minus those three or are there other file types that I need to know about as well?

wccclas2 = classes

wccitem2 = items

wccknms2 = monsters

wccmp002 = rooms

wccmsg2 = messages

wccrace2 = races

wccshop2 = shops

wccspel2 = spells

wcctext2 = text blocks

Those are probably the only ones you are ever going to work with.

Ok now I'm having another problem. When I initially did my edits before I put the MUD back up I used nitemare to edit everything, including max attributes for all races. Then I deleted wccupda2.dat, loaded the bbs which leaves you with a tiny wccupda2.dat but it doesn't change any of your edits. So I took the bbs offline, loaded LJN and created a update database with it so I wouldn't have problems with item/monster regen. Everything worked ok, all the edits stuck. The problem is that I messed up with the gnome max strength and it was set to 20. Tried the same process as above to fix it only I can't seem to get it to stick now unless I leave wccupda2.dat deleted. I tried using LJN to create the database update but this time it just doesn't seem to want to stick.

That was kind of confusing me.

Anyway, I don't get LJN, its too complicated. But from what you made it sound, you made your edits THEN deleted the wccupda2.dat... try deleting it first before you make any edits. It SHOULD work. If it doesn't then you have a far more complicated problem on your hands than I can handle... I've only been messing with it since December. I only reply to things I've had the same problem with tho, so hopefully my response helps you out. I wouldn't know what's causing the max strength to not go up. Delete the class and remake it.

Ya, just go back into whatever you like using, change the max to whatever you want, and then recreate the update file if you want to have that file around. That should do it.

Didn't try that but I didn't think that the editor even accessed that file other than the couple of functions that are directly related to it (creating and editing). Funny thing is how edits stuck the first time and didn't the next. Maybe I'll try it again later and see if I can't get it to work, running with no wccupda2.dat file for the moment.
