Basically, password manager has been exploited. I'd imagine a fix soon, and will post a reply with a link to it if no one beats me to it.

note that this is in firefox 2.0 which is a recent release. this isn't in the stable 1.x series

it seems to be taking them a long time to release a bugfix for this, but then again look at IE...

this bug is still unresolved. i have read somewhere that it will be fixed in release 2.0.0.2.

on another note i have been stupid with my "tweaking" of firefox to reduce that caching feature or "memory leak." all this time i thought firefox was just a leaky bastard, but it was just me merely allowing firefox to cache over 512MBs. i set browser.cache.memory.capacity to 16432 or roughly 1GB+ memory cache. all of my problems of hitting pagefile with only 1GB of total ram on my laptop were because of my stupid fiddling around.

i have reset the browser.cache.memory.capacity to the default of 4096 and haven't looked back!

It's been in there for awhile so far as I remember reading about it on HardOCP.

try the development build of FireFox 2.0 "Bon Echo" as it provides the following bug fixes:

# 270558 - Password manager should not fill in username and password if the username field is pre-filled by the server to a different username.

# 235336 - Password manager doesn't prefill mailman admin passwords.

I'm not big on development builds, just because I consider stuff pre-gold as just a bit to techie for me, but I'm glad they were able to address it, and hopefully it's a solid fix.
