Happy Halloween!

http://www.finalfantasyxii.com/

Release date October 31

Also in the works:

There had been speculation when Square Enix registered the trademark ‘Revenant Wings’ that this would be another game in the Final Fantasy XIII line-up. It is now, however, known that this game will be a Nintendo DS prequel to the forthcoming PlayStation 2 title Final Fantasy 12!

On May the 8th, 2006, Final Fantasy XIII (FF13) was confirmed as a work in progress by Square Enix at its annual Pre-E3 conference. It has been confirmed that there will be at the very least three (3) Final Fantasy XIII titles released, under the main title of Final Fantasy XIII: Fabula Nova Crystallis (which translates to “The New Tale of the Crystal“).

Most info taken from http://www.ffnet.org

Was also wondering if anyone's seen a copy of FFIX for the PC? Roomates 2nd and 3rd PS2 discs are trashed, and it's the only one I've not been able to finish.

I was stoked as well when I found out they we're doing DS games, considering its the closest thing to a console game machine that I own.

Has ANYONE ever seen FFIX PC version on, umm, undocumented channels? Have done some searching, with no luck. Just wondering if I should even bother searching, it is a four year old release afterall.

It seems the entire combat scheme is changing, it's real time now. More info available in TFA (http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/finalfantasy12/news.html?sid=6159004&mode=recent).

The gambit system is based on artificial intelligence commands that you set for each character (you can even set your own). Gambits consist of two options: a target and an action. For example, if you set a gambit for Balthier that starts with "Foe: party leader's target" and ends with "attack," then Balthier will attack any enemy that you have the leader attack.

There's no longer a "random combat" system, either. Rather, the mobs are walking around the map just like you are, and combat begins (assumingly seemlessly) when you approach, with the AI taking over. You are however allowed to manual control, but with the real time combat it may take some getting used to.

I've seen the TGS trailer (http://files.filefront.com/FFXIIITGSwmv/;5537955;;/fileinfo.html) and early screens for FFXIII as well, and it looks spectacular. It almost seems like they're trying to move to a system in which gameplay and cutscenes merge together. Sadly, PS3 won't be on my list of needs for a long time. I'll likely settle for watching someone else play it, but it looks worth it.

I'd love to know how. I was on the scene back during dreamcast era, had most of those games. I have the slimline PS2, and am unable to soder, and my friend who can just moved out of state.

I've perused the flip-top lids, but haven't heard much good or bad generally speaking. If you have anything you'd like to suggest, I already have the dvd burner so it's really the only thing holding me back.

Also: How's combat? Obviously much different than other versions (Only one person can get each esper? ack!), but is it fun? Are boss fights insanely hard?

some boss fights are harder than others. i just finished a boss that took 20 phoenix downs and 15 hi-potions to beat; 20 minutes...

it's kind of a free form battle mode, you can use gambit to automatically heal at X % life.

i think it's fun :)
