So I just got back from the first outting of the spring, and I did awesome! No, wait, I didn't...but it was still fun. :)



I've only been out about 10-15 times in my life, but it's my dad's hobby (obsession), so for X-mas he got me a set of clubs. I've already made plans to head out in 2 weeks with some friends from work, but that will involve lots of beer, so it should be an adventure more than a round of golf.



Anywho, for those who care, I shot a 57 on 9 holes, which was 21 over par (heh). 6 double bogeys, a 5 over par (8 on the 2nd hole par 3, I HATE WATER!), a triple bogey, and my prize and joy, a bogey on a par 4. I had one chance to par on a par 3, when the 2nd shot dropped about 8 feet from the cup, but I missed the putt, and then missed the comebacker, so ended up dbl bogey on the hole (and cursing, of course).



My goal for the year is to be closer to bogey's on every hole. I'm still working on my swing (line drives don't clear water, btw), so if I can start getting the ball in the air consistently I'll be fine.

Well, I just went out to the same course, but hit the front nine instead of the back this time. I did MUCH better at getting the ball in the air, even outdriving my dad a few times (though, admittedly, he wasn't doing as well as he'd like).

As far as scoring this time out, I shot a 49, which was 14 over par. I'm not joining the tour anytime soon, but I'm getting better no doubt. Had one triple bogey(first hole), 4 double bogeys, 3 bogeys and a par. Had TWO chances for birdies, but flubbed them up. Also nearly sank a 100+ foot putt (landed waaaay on the back of the green, and the hole was positioned on the front lip almost. I literally dropped the ball about 18" away, and my dad practically shat himself). Ended the round with bogey/par/bogey, so I'm just hoping to carry that through the next time I make it out.

Well, my third time out this year...not so good. Shot a 54, so only 4 shots worse than last time out, but on 9 holes that's not good. It also dosen't count how the times I had to re-hit a ball because I topped it out and it went 10 yds, or I pulled off and it went 10 yds to the left.

I did have one chip that likely would have gone in the hole(would have been a birdie, too), but my dad was staring at it rather than pulling the flag, and it hit the post and bounced off. Had another shot (2nd hole) where I hit it way to hard, but it hit the actual fabric part of the flag and dropped only a few yds from the cup. First hole I hit it right at a green bunker, but it literally stopped a half-inch from going in. If luck wasn't on my side today, I would have had nothing.

I think I may try to make it to the driving range before next time. I need to get just a little more consistancy in my swing before I'll enjoy going out again.
