Few things that syntax has done have came about from his own original ideas. Nightmare Redux being heavily influenced by donut's original editor is nice...yeah. he is given far too much credit for his accomplishments. i'm not impressed by someone generating thousands of lines of code and adaptations to their code. bragging about things of that nature is more of an oversight for potentially very inefficient code. yeah, it gets the job done, but just because he did it doesn't mean he is the only one capable of programming a similar application in Visual Basic. Any human capable of reasoning and problem solving skills with a VB manual and Pervasive SDK API manuals could easily do the work he's done.
on another note it would seem that behind the scenes from while ago that syntax gained some respect amongst the mods (more than he had before.) his work with releasing majormud cracks (anonymously) that were basically compared offsets and relative text string locations to my old work. (wow. so impressive he can copy my work and release it.)
i'm always being called completely mentally retarded in every aspect of life, but nobody realizes how much work i did and how much it built this community.
if anything development of this community would be several years behind what it is today. unlocking the NT version to edit classes/items and monsters was a major step. discovery of ljnedit inspired one of the most important features in NMR the autoupdate compiler. you can all insult me and say syntax represents this communties accomplishments full heartidly, but the truth will never die. another interesting thought is that syntax has stated he will never speak to me ever again including real life. i've never met the man and feel that represents a serious flaw in human reasoning. holding grudges for life is stupidity, especially over the internet, moreso a game, a text base game.
the climax of my time spent on this game was when i discovered the ability to unlock what i thought was only disabled syntax for developer commands. SYS *. after that all fun for the game was lost. i spoke with edge about it for awhile and he was unsuccessful at enabling them, but showed me a more powerful disassembler called IDA Pro. with that and a little intuition i was able to unlock SYS * EMULATE without the use of any beta ReG#s or wccmmud.ini keys. it was joyous witnessing the crazy thing walk all over the place and attack monsters.
