Pot is actually a mild halucinogenic.. largely the severity of this effect is related to dose levels and frequency of use.



The point is that pot, meth, acid, coke, smack, dmt, amt, alcohol, etc are all drugs which are capable of being used by an individual SENSIBLY. When someone chooses to moderatly use a drug in a well informed manner and thats all they do, then the harm is likely to be minor or non existant. Drugs only become a problem for a user or anyone else when used to excess.



I wont list cigarettes under the can be used without harm bit because, as a nicotiene addict, i know that i would by lying. I would encourage someone (so long as they were of solid mind and had good mental fortitude) to take trips over starting smoking any day.. Acid and other higher hallucinogenics certainly never did me any harm, but at age 26 the only drug i still consume is Nicotiene.. and it gives the least effect of the lot.. sad!

Pot being the lesser of the evils, it isn't listed as a hallucigen(sp) because it's hallucigenic properties are so mild. compared to chemicals, or even mushrooms.



I am a recovering addict (10 years clean), my drugs of choice were Coke, shrooms, and acid. Acid being the worst, because of the psychological addiction. Upto Late December 2003 I was a smoker, I quit cold turkey (3rd times' the charm).



At 30(something) the only drug I use now, is caffeine.

Furrene, i really have to say i was surprised by your comment. Until i read that i actually had you pegged as an intelligent and thoughtful individual.. making such sweeping and unfounded generalisations makes me think i was wrong. It may be the case that Zol is a druggie, but from this comment and those that follow you seem to imply anyone who does drugs is a no-brainer? i wont rant about this as its something that i feel strongly about. You are right, my comment was uncalled for but was hoping he would see how childish his foul language was by typing at his level. I was wrong to try and point that out. For that I do apologize.



As for the illegal drugs, that is why they are that, except in the case of some that can take them through a legal process for pain (usually the elderly and or someone with a life threatrening disease that has pain). For pain, to numb, to put the mind in a different state than one which can feel the pain.



Is taking drugs done in a well thought out manner though? Or idid it begin with peer pressure etc then became a habit? I am tottally against drugs and or driniking. Both kill innocent by standers.



It has been proven that the mind is definitely not as aware, alert, etc when taking drugs and or drinking. It has been proven that people under the influence of one or both, do kill.



What people do in their private life is their business but when it begins to effect others that I feel I have the right to say something.



The person felt if I took a drug and or a drink I would feel better. If that is how one has to feel better about themselves by taking a drug and or drink then I fell sorry for them. But most of all I feel sorry for the ones around them that have to put up with the attitude etc of these drugs and or drinks.



If these drugs are so great then why does one have to sneak around to buy them and take them? The reason/s are because of the abov statement/s.





I know some countries hand them out through a medical office. Why? To keep the crime down. So the addicts aren't busting into homes, killing, etc for money to buy these so great drugs.



And that only reenforces my statemt/s on why I feel the way I do about drugs.

well as it was sooooooooooooo wacked out it was decided by the editing team to start fresh.. then adjust the exp.. and on a side note.. i have my ex wife here (trying to rekindle the spark.) and have not devoted much time to the bbs ..... YET.. it will come.. weapons will come done.. and hopefuly it wont be posibaly to lvl 100 in a day..

Ok, i hate to have to do this but you really have made some very poorly thoughtout statements within your post, not to mention some grossly inaccurate ones.



Drugs for pain.. just for pain? what about epilepsy, schizophrenia, ADHD, MPD, OCD.. need i go on? there are plenty more reasons? like having a filling at the dentist, or to calm a person during a traumatic event.



Peer group pressure is a bad thing, but submitting to that pressure is worse. Yes its a fact of life, people do give in to such pressure and take drugs.. so what? peer group pressure is a fact of life, you cant raise people inside little bubbles of safety or a) they get no life experience and end up naive and gullable, or; b) end up very repressed and disfunctional, or; c) when they are exposed to peer pressure as an adult have no ability to cope with it.

We learn by making choices and by the effect (positive and/or negtive) that those choices then have on us as people, or on those around us.. simple really.

You are correct. Many people under the influence of neither drugs nor alcohol have killed too, so what exactly is your point, as this is a one dimensional, non commital and inflamatory comment? coins have 2 sides, not 1.

You could say then that those who use meditation to relax are really bad people.. you must also feel sorry for those around them? or those who choose to punch a punching bag to sweat their tension out, do you feel sorry for people around them, because by hitting a canvas bag they are clearly agressive people? no one around me felt sorry for me when i did drugs, nor did they put up with any "attitude" - straight A's at uni in a Physics/IT double major, well paid solid and steady job, great family, wonderful partner, i wasnt violent, didnt rob anyone.. so wheres the problem exactly?

And here is the crescendo of all the arguments, how you can't see the logic falling into little bits with whats written above, i dont know. Why do people have to sneak around and buy them? because people on drugs KILL? because they have ATTITUDE? ..what the?? people who arent on drugs KILL. Newsflash; People who arent on drugs have ATTITUDE. In fact, the largest majority of people who are murdered are killed by someone they know, not because of drugs or alcohol, because of family/domestic related problems/issues. In some cases these people may turn to drugs as a means of coping with their domestic problems, wrongly so IMHO. People dont kill (for the most part) because of the drugs, because the rate of murder amongst non drug/alcohol users/abusers is still disproportianately high for domestic related violence/cause, not drugs or alcohol. Will your next mission be banning cars? they sure kill a lot of people.



People "sneak around" (which in fact they dont, in many social settings drug use is common place and happens openly and police and such are well aware of it) to buy drugs is because some of those drugs are illegal. I know I know, they are illegal because they are bad; BOLLOCKS. If that was the case Alcohol and Tobacco would be illegal, effective immediately... that wont happen though.. all that tax money.. MMMMM $$$$$$$.



All the drug related deaths (thats ilegal so called "hard" drugs like coke/smack, "softer" drugs like pot, nitrous, poppers and prescription drugs) combined dont even come close to the number of dea due to Alcohol and tobacco related illness. No, not alcohol and tobacco combined, seperate. The total combined drug related deaths/chronic illness levels do not come close to EITHER ONE. If you really are so morally pained, go protest outside a smoke factory, dont beat on people and call them "druggies" - it makes you sound poorly educated, slow minded and hollier-than-thou.



You obviously have NO IDEA why in some countries, heroin in particular is able to be used in supervised environments. Yes, its "harm minimisation", but clearly what you dont realise is that in those same countries, addiction rates, not just crime rates and drug related death rates, are lower.. much lower.. as are the proportionate numbers of new users. Add to this the fact that the number of users getting clean and staying clean is higher, and its a pretty compelling picture. Its not about endorsing drug use in any way, its about managing and building a healthier more able bodied population. They dont just go BAD BAD PEOPLE, YOU ARE BAD, GO TO JAIL. They educate, assist, and in cases where people try to go clean, SUPPORT the users in staying clean so they can become the most valuable thing in the world; Social capital.





And that only reenforces my statemt/s on why I feel the way I do about drugs.

Drugs arent going away, they are a major source of income for people and in some cases countries. No, it doesnt mean just because blah blah blah, we should accept it, but we should also learn to live in the REAL WORLD, not happy-la-la fantasy land. Zero tolerance? zero awareness of the REAL (not the "way we would like it") world... I
