That same thought pattern doomed the British and Roman Empires. The president can send troops, but he can not declare war. If congress doesn't declare war, our troops will have to be removed from the area in I believe 60-90 days under the War Powers Act.

you mean IN the end Xetox, damnit man! Slow down, take a breath and then type! :D

The reason the UN doesn't work is because of the US and Britain's belief that they alone are always right. That will be the downfall of our great country and I for one don't want that.

If you notice, tho, we didn't go into Iraq until we had multiple countries backing us.

Don't agree with something = pussy. That's flawed logic. They don't agree with war for whatever reason that none of us know and it is their right to hold an opinion.

The answer is to remove veto power of all 5 of the permanent members of the Security Council. That would be too democratic for this champion of democracy country to allow. Wouldn't it?

We are going to free a country that has been under rule by a idiot! How is that wrong, we are going to give the country back to the people, with a leader that they choose. How is that wrong. The UN is a bunch of pussys! If it was up to them we would not have acted for another 2 years when he was much more powerful than he is now.

How soon we forget the attack that was made on us! Do you think that they waited for the UN to do that? Fuck the UN......I believe in what our goverment is doing! And if you cant, or dont have the balls to back them, then maybe you should move to canada!

Letter to the President (http://www.michaelmoore.com)

I read this letter this morning. If your familiar with the author, read it first before you go judging it. Alot of people tend to judge things he sayes just because of who he is and what he's done thus far.

I tend to go a little with what he sayes.

But, I still believe that war, no matter how just you say it is, how needed it is, or whatever you might say, but war just is not the answer.

We are going in to take out his weapons of mass destruction before he can use them (that's one of the reasons being spewed from teh white house). Think of it in this simple example:

We don't want to get hit by someone else. So, to keep them from hitting us, we will hit them first. Now, firstly, that just is stupid...you can go back to the words "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". If you don't want them to hit you, don't hit them.

Now, having hit the other person in an unprovoked hitting (I say unprovoked, because we don't know 100% that they were going to hit us in teh first place...we just think they are, because they can hit us..can and will are two different prospects), they are going to want to hit back. And they most likely will. Which, just defeated the purpose of hitting them to begin with (which was so they won't hit us). Do you see this flawed logic?

Yes, I'm sure its not the only reason we are doing this, but that is one of them, and already it's logic has been debunked...Can you find the logic flaws in the other reason our government has given us for this 'war'?

Just an interesting factoid:

1 out of the 535 members of congress has a child enlisted in the military. Only a few more have children who are officers in the military.

If they want to wage a war in the name of freedom (freedom fries, heh...dumbass, fries didn't come from france), they should all give up their own children to go fight for them. I say Bush should give up his children too...I bet he'd think twice (if he thought once, that is) about sending America's children to fight for something that really, honestly does not concern us.

Yes, your thinking that Saddam is a bad man, and he oppresses and kills his own people. But, really, if the people in Iraq have such a problem with it, they would eventually deal with it themselves. Just like when Britain ruled the colonies with an iron fist, we took control of it ourselves..albeit, Iraq would have more problems doing it, what with new technology and weaponry..but they obviously don't have a big enough problem with it right now, or they would have overthrown or killed Saddam long ago (it only takes one bullet from a crowded street...and I am pretty sure those same Generals that are surrendering their troops to ours right now wouldn't hesitate to let someone by with a gun if its going for Saddam...)

just on the note that the president cannot declare war......he goes to congress for approval, yes. But if they do not give the approval he has the right to go ahead and declare war. He is the Commander in Chief...that is his job!

Call it what you want, war works for me, regardless of what defination you use it still means killing people.

As for diplomacy and continuted stalemate that was supported by those countries that had their own agenda, it has no place in OUR agenda. Detante' has failed, as it always has and the only option left was one of agression. That we and are our allies are the only ones who were willing to forego our business holdings and self motivated purposed (dont get me wrong we will not go be decimated by this action). All that was being proposed by the US and her allies was that an END to diplomacy be set and adhered too, THIS is what France and the rest of the self motivated league of whiners opposed. Gee, do you think if the French had had a backbone in WWII Hitler would have gotten as far as he did? probably not, but hindsight is 20/20, unless your French.

As much as all your idealistic deebs purport moral superiority in non-agressive solutions, it remains that most bullies only understand one thing, a good hard punch in the nose.

Hanover Fist

keep it simple, even a simple mind can understand that.

All this France bashing I see...alot of people forget our history with them... They helped us become independant from England, they gave us the Statue of Liberty..even our founding fathers were educated by the French and their ideologies...Which, btw, we have pretty much thrown out the window when we started trampling all over our Constitution with Amendments out the ass, all designed to circumvent itself so that the politicians could do just about anything they please.

You know want I say we do with the Statue of Liberty......once we go and kick the frenchs ass, we take the statue of liberty back over there and say "The Bitch Is Back"

The constitution has to change as the times change thats just what happens....you know this war is not with Iraq as alot of people keep stating.....its with a regime that is run my Saddam. Once we rid outself of that regime then we can give the country back to the people of Iraq.
