Are you running NM directly from your Worldgroup directory? If you are, there is no reason WG wouldn't see the update file. If you aren't, you need to copy the update file to your worldgroup directory.

i think what speed means here is; in the settings, is your dat path the same path as your worldgroup directory, or are you editing with the dats copied to a different directory? if you're editing them in a different directory you would need to copy the update file you created from that directory into your worldgroup directory (overwriting the one that is there). see the general help in NMR for editing scenarios and about the update file.

Well it finds the update, but after more than 8 hours i dont get an update complete screen nor have any of the changes been implmented into 1.11i..... Its not adding the gold drops, the exp table dropage, or the EXP multiplications....

assuming you're editing the dats in the wg directory ... are you doing your edits with the board down? if not, are you waiting until the update file has finished it's run before you start editing?

also, are you sitting a character in the game? if you don't have at least one character in the game it doesn't run the update file. you'll also want to make your "rate to perform initialization" setting (in general settings of wg) to 20000, it makes load the bbs and processing the update file much much faster.

Aye, that's what I meant. I read over what I said and it was something completely different. Good call.

im doing all that. its run the update and still no dice. Im seriously considering just deleting my XP hd and going back to 98 where this shit didnt happen... or taking my old 350 amd shell and turning it into another mud box... but then it creates its own problems...

Anyway back to the problem. I let the update run, it gets done, then NO changes are made. I restart the board, it re-sees the update and does it again.... still nothing. Should i just swallow my pride and go to 1.11m (if i can find one) and hope the edits work there?

when you open NMR back up after you let the update run through, are your edits missing or are they still there?

ok then you definately are doing something wrong. because not only are your edits not getting put in, but when the update file runs though it's not overwriting your edits.

check you path in settings, is that directory the same directory as your wolrdgroup directory?

if so, then all you should need to be doing is compiling the update

if no, then you should be copying the file from that directory to your WG directory. maybe you aren't copying it to the right place.

answer what you are doing, not just what isn't working.

Step 1: Check to see if your Worldgroup (Not WGMan) directory is your default data file path in the settings.

Step 2: Shut down the board.

Step 3: In general settings, change your rate to perform initialization to 20,000.

Step 4: Compile an update.

Step 5: Start Worldgroup.

Step 6: Enter a character into mud, and let it sit there.

Step 7: Report back here with findings.

Done that... a few times. No changes are being made for some strange reason... its realy rather odd. I'll probily just wait till i put another box together to make a fully edited mud... but as for now i got a stock one up and running....

Dude, you are doing something wrong. It's not your XP. It's not your WG. It's not your mud. It's not Nightmare. It's definately something you are doing.

If you would just offer some more information (Directory locations of WG, MUD, Nightmare, and where Nightmare points to), and answer questions: , it would be much easier for us to help you.
