Make sure to bring a copy of your license with you, and a copy of the posts they made references to. I personally think it will cost more than it's worth to bring them to court.

You can not stop them from terminating your license and getting support/future updates unless you bring them to court.

I would also suggest trying to find other sysops who have had their licenses wrongfully revoked... it would make a much stronger case if you can show that this has happened to multiple people (and I'm guessing it has, although I can't say for certain).

Metro really needs to learn a lesson. They are doing awful things to the BBS scene. All they seem to care about is making money, crapifying majormud by randomly changing old items over and over, and wasting time going after their paying customers.

A long while back, they emailed me offering to allow me to sell DoorMUD registrations through their GamePort site. In return for this opportunity, they wanted "only" 50%-55% of my profits. I declined and continued to use PayPal for credit card sales, since they only charge 3%.

A few months ago, I emailed them asking if they were interested in licensing Farwest Trivia to me for a doorgame port. Basically this would get them free money since no work was involved on their part, and it would also bring more attention to their web version that they have in the works. They declined my offer, with a 2-sentence email that made it very clear they hadn't even READ my mail. Granted, its their product (well, they purchased it anyway, they certainly didnt write it) but you think they could at least READ my email before declining my offer!

Give metro hell. They deserve it.

This is true, is why Ive been on the phone all day and have sent tons of emails out. There will be ppl(lawyers on my behalf)coming to veiws these posts in the next few days. The posts that metro has taken as proof that i distributed and editted my files, when in fact they can access my drive and see that my game is and will be 100% legit. I am taking this a step further because I will not just allow metro to do this to me because they are mad at me for telling the truth a month ago about how inferior they are. I have spent to much money on wg and mmud with all the mods and lic packs just to let this go and say oh okay. I have done nothing wrong and they know it. Now lets fight metro, put your hands up....

Dude, they aren't after you because of that. They get that on a daily basis. Sysops tell them every single day that their product is shit, they need to do this, they need to do that, they need to get someone who knows how to code, "I'm gonna file a lawsuit", shit like that. They get it all the time. You are nobody special to them. They are after you because they assume you are the 1.11k leak. That's the only reason. They are simply trying to keep their software restricted to registered owners.

Speed is right. Those words just don't sound right...lol

Anyways, if you're the person that proposed the class action lawsuit due to the fact that you didn't like K then you were and still are looking for a reason to sue metro. You can't sue over a product because you don't like it. That whole case would've been thrown out due to it being a nuisance suit more than likely and lacking merit and case law to back it.

However, them revoking licenses on a whim is something you could pursue. You have to make sure you talk to sysops, not users as well. Only sysops who have bought and paid for their software and had their license revoked for alleged violations that you didn't commit. If you can get a handful of sysops that were terminated for invalid reasons you have a chance at suing them. If you can't, it might not be worth the time to pursue.

I honestly don't think it's worth the time to pursue either way. Gray, post a copy of your license on here. We can tell you whether or not you have a chance in hell. Most licenses say "Yadda yadda, we can terminate your license for any reason, yadda yadda" in fine black print. If it does, and you purchased thier software, you are sol.

I have spoke with Jeff(metros head man), on the phone today and they are reviewing this issue. He is suppose to call me back, I hope they come to the right conclusion as this needs to be taken care of. It has been a misunderstanding and thats it. As for the class action lawsuit, that was not neccesarily my idea, but more of a "look at what we(metro) have done and not let it happen again" wether or not it would have stood up in court is not my call, that would have been a judges call. It was never the intent to actually go through with any of that but more of a way to get them to look at the way they handle things. Only after many bashes and comments about our mentality did we(several diff legit boards, not just myself) decide to say there were actually lawsuits being persued. People say and do things in the heat of a battle, not all of them are true or will have action taken. Since this was done metro has had their eye on me regardless of what some of you say. (edit small typo)

In conclusion I hope this is resolved quickly and painlessly as it can.

it was a lot more than him not liking it. it was about the fact that updates come out like once a year and that they are always buggy as hell and that metro doesn't pay enough attention to it's user base, etc etc. it was about the company not putting out a quality product and testing it like they should, even though they take so long to release updates. things of that nature. it could have a chance to hold up in court, but can you really sue someone for buggy software? you can probably demand your money back for it and sue them if the refuse, but only for the cost of the software, i dunno.

I'm suing syntax cuz nmr didn't add all the features that he hasn't thought of yet. [/sarcasm]

That's why I said people should learn and execute much more discretion when posting. We all get perturbed, but you don't post something when in that kind of state. It will only lead to more problems.

Its sad, they think we enjoy THIER game but the fact is what they put out blows so bad that in order for it to be fun we need to band together and learn how to edit files to make the program better and fun for the gaming public. I personally dont know many people that like spending 4 years to get a mage to level 40 legitly then something happen to it and its gone (like bbs go down or whatnot) atleast with D&D you have your character on paper, in the mud world its all on someone elses machine. Without people in these forums I think meto/majormud would have floundered and sank a long time ago since they have such buggy programs and lack of quality technical support. If you read the official forums of majormud everyone is pretty much an ass and if you ask a question they jump all over you since they think they are so high and mighty.

I personally want to thank everyone here who has always lent a bit of adive and even a bit of bashin for fun.

May MMB live on to help the common gamer.

Their game is fun as it is. We as a people have the tools to edit and change the game as we see fit, so we do so.

Lvl 40 mage = 6-8 months legit tops. I know you are "sarcastically exhaggerating to get your point across" though. Although, Boards around here go down much swifter than legit boards.

These forums in virtually no way help Metro. They do nothing for them. They only provide a place for us to go. Metro would probably be better off without us here, seeing as I would probably still be paying for legit mud every now and again (and so would a few others).

I am always up for some bashing, and the occasional advice. You're very welcome.
