Actually, I think there are 2 types of sysops (generally speaking):
You have your administrator types, who actually want to run the board, and care about every detail, and try to make everything perfessional.
You have your developer types who just want to make a kick ass mud, but are forced to host the board because no one else can.
So, perhaps we should get 2 groups going? maybe have a developer/administrator board where members of the 2 groups could communicate and such. :punch:

I think pretty much all edit bbses that post to these forums start out as raiden did (Just want to make a good mud) and end up as syntax did (Got the bbs anyway. Mud is stable and close to what I want. Why tweek the mud ONLY!?).
The one group of ops generally becomes the other group of ops with time. I still hate new edit muds that waste time on other than the mud 100% though :) The evolution should happen naturally, syntax's concerns and pet peaves are far different with all the time under his belt, and a mud(s) close to what he wants than a newbie mud realisticly needs be conserned with yet.

I completely agree with you Ripper, and I am bemused that other's cannot see it that same way.

I disagree ripper. I like to make muds, but I don't like to host them. According to your logic, by editing muds I will like to host them, which isn't true. I have worked with administrators before, and honestly I don't care for the position. By having their own board, people might come to find they like sysoping more than editing, but that isn't for everyone.

Amber, if you've been following the other threads associated with Boink - the board is down currently for a reset and some new edits going in I believe. Try again tomorrow.

Yup Yup --
Board will be back online once the staff is finished debugging everything. Hopefully by the evening of the 13th.
