you do have a good point, however, you can add in all of those message/responses to prevent from being killed like that by a druid. You can't however protect against this party bug, which I'm assuming is different than the one they used w/ the plus addon.

platinum: i think that is fair enough. but i do not log on to make trouble. i log on to play mud. certainly this is an unfortunate situation for myself and syntax, and although he will have all the gear back he needs in under an hour, i'm given a months suspension for a minor part in his demise. i haven't even been playing on the bbs a month..

I'm not familiar with the Irix thing you're talking about, but as for you, it's very, very simple.
You didn't just PVP him. You didn't walk/sneak/leap into the room he was in and attack him, outright, and kill him. There was a bug involved in bringing him down. And it's not like you rounded him. If you look at the cap, the *ONLY* reason he stayed online is because you were in his party, right? And how did you get into his party? You used a bug. It's that simple. It's not an underlying cause of many why you killed him. It's not even that it happened during PVP because of bad code. You specifically hunted him down in order to use the bug on him.
That, my friend, is the big difference.
As for your punishment, well, you should have thought of that before you did it. "I'm sorry officer, I didn't realize I wasn't allowed to drive over 55 mph, I didn't see a speed limit sign." Ignorance is *never* an excuse.

Ok..."got him"..that makes it obvious that he knew what he was doing. He knew he was exploiting a bug - and that was his intention. Now..how many BBS's do you know that welcome this sort of thing? And why he did it this way - to be forgiven for his EPs, and so he wouldn't be attacked back..but thats a no-brainer.
If it would have happened to another user - and we would have received a cap of this sort from them proving it - the same thing would happen. Don't wet your pants thinking suspension only occurred because Syntax is a Sysop - everyone knows I don't mess w/ people who exploit bugs and/or cheat, and you fall in one or both of those catagories. You would have been suspended no matter who you did it to.
I'm sorry you don't really like what happened...but you got what you deserved. If you want to kill someone - fight them. Don't cheat to kill someone - either pvp them, attack their script, or don't do anything at all. I myself think lowly of people who attack scripts - but I'd rather that than exploit a bug. And even though I think lowly of them, they're still treated the same until they do something lame...something like this.
Oh...and again - as proved - the entire problem stems from a MajorMUD bug, NOT MegaMUD.

They know without it, people would quit playing.

a month may have been a bitch much....but that all will be worked out between tard and syntax, he is a sysop on morbid and he will make those choices. Ray you say that one should not be punished for expoiting bugs in megamud. If they where not then it would just keep happening and everyone would be doing it and that would make the bbs fucked! Now that this has happened people will think twice about doing it again!
