I am actually thinking about satellite radio though, it's kinda funny you mentioned it.

makes sense.. if your going to upgrade you may as well do it all the way :) terrestrial radio's going to be a thing of the past soon as they run out of much needed bandwidth for new technology :)

Its definitely worth it. My roomate has it and he gets every channel under the sun. You can always find something on you like. No more need for CDs on the long road trips.

I'm also toying with the idea of just getting an mp3 compatable cd player.

I'm not very fond of monthly charges, so if i could just hook up an i-pod or another mp3 player, i'd be just as happy.



I also got the damn dash out finally and did some work on that.

The cluster was painted with some tough as nails black paint.

I had to soak the piece in paint thinner before i was able to get the paint off all the way. The whole process took forever and i gotta take it back apart again. I'd rather have the gauges glowing red, rather than white.

This is a bad shot. The cluster is now chrome...I polished it with nevrdull. It actually looks really good in person. The gauges at this moment glow white and they are very bright when it's dark outside. If i get a fire in my ass, i might take it all back apart today and paint the gauges red...we'll see though.

I'm a bit pissed off right now...I pulled the gauges back out today and painted everything red like i said i was gonna do...It looks badass...i put it all back together...when i flip the switch.....no lights...just smoke...i gotta redo the wiring...again...but look how good it looks in red.

After taking the damn cluster out, (once again), I'm noticing that the little lever box that holds onto the headlight switch is rattling once taken out....I pulled it apart and am convinced that it's damn shot.(42 years old and you'd be broken too). I'm gonna have to wait untill i can fund it. Which means that this is just gonna go on my list along with everything else i can't afford right now. This sucks, because now i really can't drive the car around. I.E. no turn signals or lights or nothing. At least the brake lights still work. lol. Damn those gauges look sweet though...I just can't wait to see them light up.

Theres no way to polish out the rest of the marks on it?

Hi, I just wanted to let you know I just tried your 1.5 gallon Copy Chrome™ kit on some highly polished brass knobs off an old Harley. They turned out "Awesome". I'm not kidding, they are flawless. To be honest with you I'm trying a little of everybody's tank plating systems and this was by far the easiest to set up for the results achieved. I only put about 25 minutes on with a coat of Wenol. I bolted them to my truck for sort of a weathering test next to some of my triple chrome. Up here in the Dakotas we see extreme heat , cold, salt, ect. It will be interesting to see by spring. Car looks nice. I attempted to "restore" a late model Audi I got for free, but gave up after putting several hundred bucks into it when I couldn't get a grasp on the wiring. Recouped my cash by donating the car for a tax write-off.

Thankyou everyone for the positive feedback. It helps keep me going on this project. Note that i haven't spent any money on the whole thing in months. I believe that i'm doing a decent job concidering no budget.



I'd love to get into chrome plating. I could really use newly fab'd chrome, but that's pretty expensive for me right now. Whenever i can get into some good money, i'll be sure to buy up one of those kits and chrome plate everything i own.

a chrome plated invisigod would be cool...
