just to let you know whats goin on with the board
A few suggestions for you Orb...
1) Get rid of the instant regen 60k cave worm. I don't if your goal is to have a balanced realm, but you won't if you keep that.
2) The topten. I have been here for only 2 days and in that time I have seen a player go from 2billion experience to 10billion... That's in a matter of 48 hours. If you keep whatever monster/area the way it is where they are scripting, you will have players losing interest in the game fast. The only way to keep a good user base, and keep players from leaving is to create a Majormud game that can be drawn out. If a player gets to level 80 in a matter of days, it will ruin the game for them.
3) ANY players with the EDITED tag need to be either non-playing or removed from the topten. Preferably both. If a new user comes in and see's 4-5 players on the topten and who list with that tag, they will NOT want to play on the board.
If you have a playing character, take away it's ops. This is an easy way to overcome this obstacle. If a player for instance see's a playing sysop with:
Outlaw Orb Floats - Templar of Bounty Hunters EDITED
That next to their name, they won't have much passion to play there, because the first thought crossing their mind would be: "This sysop's a cheater"
3) I know using the advanced sysop functions (I.E. sys tweak, sys summon, sys monster) are all fun and games, and I participated in this with you as well... But when you do that in front of the wrong person, you will again be labeled a 'cheater' and will more than likely have a lot of players lose interest in the board.
One thing I do on Boink Machine is when any SYSOP character has to use the sys summon option (which they are only allowed to use to help a player replace gear that has completely disappeared from a deathpile), I have them let me know what they summoned and for what reason.
All of my staff that has the SYSOP key in their class keyring is made to keep their account with staff powers as non-playing. This helps lessen the threat of any unfair activity on their part. They all have mortal accounts apart from their sysop account that they are allowed to play.
4) Make players aware of any significant area's and/or items that may help their characters. I noticed that alot of the players on the topten are easily making 2-4 billion each day, yet whenever I have inquired to any of them as to where they are running, they mysteriously go 'AFK'.
Just a few thoughtful suggestions... Paying heed to these will save you a LARGE headache further down the road.
