I'd be curious to find out how many people can actually run to markus by hand .. and before you all reply "I can, I do it all the time", don't heh.. Like I said before, this would be the way to go for me, since I've scripted like 1/3 of my life away and will never go back to it..

I know of only 1 person who, at one point, did it by hand and by memory.
Besides, with megamud, there's no need to run by hand.. Without megamud, it's an easy 20 minute trip with a map.

I *CAN* do it by hand. Without maps. Easy. Do you want to see? Throw me on a board with a decent char so I can run and I'll do it, you can even emulate me. I *don't* do it all the time, but before Megamud, I did. I've made the trip hundreds of times. I used to script black mountains/manticores before telnet and megamud were popular.

I have went there by hand without maps at level 1. I did not want to have to go there and fight monsters and shit if I was just proving to you that I can do it by hand. Just because you can't do something and the majority of the megababies that play this game can't, doesn't mean that some of us can. Some of us have been playing for a very, very long time.

I'm not saying it's a problem that you can't. We all know you know your shit. It's not a big deal. I was simply rebutting the fact that he made a comment about and before you all reply "I can, I do it all the time", don't heh.. because frankly, I can. I dislike when people assume things about the whole, when there are people out there that don't apply. I don't remember EXACT directions, I have a photographic memory and I remember the maps in my head after seeing them once or twice. I can remember which way to go at each three/four-way.

Hmm, for the people responding "lower the exp tables" and "10x exp," I don't think he was targeting his ad at you.
It's for people like me who remember specific boss runs from the pre-scripting days, rather than people who have a capture of their 15 dupes taking out the vampire lord.
Sounds like a great board, I'm signing up now.
Signed,
a cranky old man

Back when mud first came out, we were all 14-16 years old and had no life. Now we've grown up, have lives, have jobs.. We don't have time to spend hours and hours at keys, worsening our carpal tunnel syndrome. We all did our share 7-8 years ago. That why we don't really like the idea of playing another stock mud by hand.
re: vampire lord.. You'll never be able to enter mod9.. ever! The board will most likely fold before you're a level 40+ handplay only char.
You say, you wanna recapture the old pre-scripting days doing boss runs? I bet you also had a sense of adventure and roleplaying in those old pre-scripting days. How's it feel to know that you will never be able to accomplish, kill or even access 25-35% of the game's bosses, quests, items and areas?
