so u extracted the files, then ran the install just like u woulda done for any other version. What file did you d/l?

+fixednew.zip? if so that doesnt require any crack, you just do the normal install.

yes i am installing it into the right directory and yes i am using the +fixednew.zip file

i even got the (k fixesd).dll file and renamed it to .dll

im doing the exact same thing that i was doing with version i or j, only when i run k nothing seems to happen... it runs through the install, shows all the "installing wccupda2.dat" and crap like that during install... then when it finishes install and i close the readme it seems that it didnt do anything.. my mud is still completely missing from the WG menu tree and shit like that

you mean that wgrunmt.exe that has the menu tree? then add it, unless you do not have that option?

it assumes the directory is c:\wgserve

try c:\wgserv buddy

does it do the intergrating thing at the end of the install? if not its not the correct directory, if you installed wg to c:\program files\galacticomm\worldgroup server, then thats where u need to poing the mud install. Also do the wgrunmt, you dont need to use the other dll, the (+fixednew).zip does not require it, as it is already fully cracked. I do not know how you can have soo much trouble installing 1.11k. this is what i did on an existing board.

1) Get NMR, theres a link in the nightmare forum to the latest version

2)open nightmare and select your previous mud dir and the file names wcc,wbb whatever, and choose the correct version (I in your case i belive, if your using I)

3) export everything to an access database

4)close nmr, and delete all your wcc files or wbb from your wg directory, whatever your files are.

5)install the fixed new file to your wg folder

6) if it is not showing in your menu tree, use the wgrunmt file and add it

7) boot up ur bbs and sit a char in the halls till database is finished ( MajorMUD auto database update complete )

8)shutdown yourserver, and open nmr, import your edits but dont update them, choose skip, then when finished compile an update file

9)close nmr and start up your server, get into your game, any room or textblock edits will need to be redone as your are using the stock room and textblock files.

this is what worked for me, try it and i hope it helps

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but why wouldn't you be able to upgrade from h or i to k?

-syn

*edit*

if it's because of the monster exp, if you look in the nightmare changelog it says i've incorporated a 'feature' to convert old monster to the new exp format (if the data export file doesn't contain a exp multiplier column). you wouldn't want to import built-in game monsters with this as they are all different. in fact, you really wouldn't want to import any built-in anything, just your new things.

It's hard to explain how to do something to people who are so adamant about doing it their way. Before running a mud, you need to gather notes, whether on paper or in your mind. First and foremost would be which directory you installed your WG to. You should then write down/take mental note of every single thing you do from then on, and refer to it as time goes by. It makes things much simpler. After a while, you'll be able to use this thing called memory. No, not ram, but memory in your brain. It holds a shitload more than any computer you or I own. It's useful.

this thread is almost as bad as the 5 words per post one,

and too bad we only use 10% of our brain memory while we can use 100% of the computers ;)

That 10% is still greater than any computer's current capability though. :D Except in some cases.
